Didn't stop Advocate last night :)

I only played a game or two with him, but I also made note of how absolutely bad Advocate was
Not everybody can be as good as Warrant Officers Charles/David
This is a bummer!

I realized that Warrant Officer has Grade 1, Grade 2 and then Grade 3 last night. Died a little inside
The above post is now more relevant, David.
Double credit weekends pls.
Yeah, they really need to up the credits earned from dailies, or just up it altogether
25x imo
On that, note, I see someone made Jacinto in Forge.
Nice! I just wish there were more environments for forge.
I think I'm going to play around with Forge when I get home
Everyone and their mom is going to do their best to recreate maps from games like Gears of War and Goldeneye. But how many would go the extra mile and recreate maps from the greatest FPS of all time? lolOuttriggerlol
Well, in the link I posted you'll see the guy made custom gametypes to go with it, too. 1 life per round, best of 5, everyone has Evade Roll ability w/ no jumping, no grenades on spawn. Pretty inspired, actually.
also why do you care, considering you're selling it without even making a token effort to try multiplayer?
I've been working on remaking a Monday Night Combat arena, should be good for objective stuff like CTF/Stockpile/Neutral Bomb/Headhunter, hopefully.
I made a token effort. Played like 4 rounds with Chux's crew. It feels pretty much exactly like 3, which I did played for a month before getting tired of it. I have nothing against people loving it, it is solid in every way but I much prefer Bad Company 2, or heck, even COD over Halo.
But that Gears variant does sound cool, but at the end, it is still Halo and I know I will hate it :D
Part of the problem is me. I really shouldn't expect Reach to play too different from 3, but the hype + my time away from 3, I thought I would like it more than I did. The campaign, in retrospect, is really disappointing. The first few levels were good, then it is more of the same (but less epic than 3), with some really shitty space/flying missions. The new toys in MP just didn't do anything for me.
Playing without a team of friends sucks. I played 2 games in a row where I accidently killed someone with a nade and they kick me from the game. WTF was Bungie thinking letting people kick out teammates after only 1 friendly kill?
Excuse me for accidently killing you because you ran into a room I threw a grenade in. Shit happens.
q2dm1
Lol, it turns out I had the iron skull on. :D
I got Reach today, and it's fun so far. I am a bit disappointed that the retarded squad AI from part 3 wasn't fixed. Nothing is more frustrating that having a marine man the chain gun on a warthog and just not fire at anything. If I try to take over, he drives us right into a flood of enemies. It's fucking stupid.
I'm finding the game much more forgiving on Legendary than part 3. I'm already in stage 4, and I just started. In contrast, it took me all afternoon Saturday to beat 1 level in Halo 3.
I always found Halo 3 and Halo: ODST's Legendary to be easier than the other games in the series, including Halo: Reach, due to the fact that there were Elites in the other games. Brutes have shields but their shields don't recharge, and they're not as effective with evading fire.
Anybody down for some games?
I went to enable grunt headshot pyrotechnics and figured that was your issue when I saw that skull.Equally annoying: when they are shooting, they feel the need to fire in short bursts as though the mounted unlimited ammo weapon needs to be conserved and has kickback. Just kill the fucking thing, assholes.Quote:

Halo 3 only had a couple parts that really slowed me down, like the huge amount of snipers with one-hit kills early on in the jungle and the fight against two scarabs. I don't recall the other games being tougher, but it is a lot nicer to be fighting elites again. Brutes are just a boring design.Quote:

The fight against the two scarabs is easy. Use the hornet and bomb the enemies off of the scarab's surface, land on it, destroy its core, get back in the hornet and fly off before the scarab explodes. Repeat with the other scarab.Quote:

I don't think you can kill your invincible spartan teammates. That was the basis of my strategy, but the hornet always got destroyed after I landed and before I got back (usually fell off and got wrecked). I ended up just using the tank to kill everything and soften the scarabs, and then flew over. Easy and safe.Quote:

Just wanted to say one of yesterdays campaign challenges (Kill 10 enemies while jetpacking on Exodus) was not only quick, but fun!
MORE LIKE THAT PLEASE! 600CR MY DICK MY DICK
David, you mentioned a lot of 1k cR challenges today, what were they?
Gunslinger 1000c
Kill 100 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking.
A Great Friend 300c
Earn 15 assists today in multiplayer Matchmaking.
The Little Guys 1000c
Kill 200 Grunts in Campaign today on Normal or harder.
Heroic Demon 1500c
Kill 30 Elites in Firefight Matchmaking on Heroic or harder.
My dick is so hard.
Lets do an all grunt, all DMR/Pistol Firefight yo
rockets imo
I played around with Forge last night for the first time (including Halo 3), very cool. Took a little while to get the hang of things, but once you do, it's great.
Going to keep dabbling in it for a little while before creating something to play.
I've gotten kicked for ridiculous shit before. Like, idiots running into my tanks cannon.
I did every challenge yesterday and I'm still a few thousand Cr from Grade 2. Fucking leveling.
Score Attack gives a fuck ton of points, btw. Just because of the assload of commendations you get. One match of Gruntpocalypse will give you a trillion headshot commendations.
Man, infection on Pinnacle is broken as shit.
I just finished this on Legendary solo. It wasn't all that difficult. I had a lot more fun on Legendary than on Heroic. I think it's been like that for me throughout the series. Normal is cool for pick-up-and-play sessions where you just want to shoot things. Legendary is a nice challenge to test your skill against the best the campaigns can offer. Heroic, on the other hand, is just hard enough where you can't just run through for fun, and too easy if you bring your A-game. Keeping sprint and pretending that the other armor abilities exist also made the campaign more enjoyable.
I'm on the last level on Legendary, and I seriously want this game to be over already. The last level is WAY too long, and it does absolutely nothing to merit its length. That's basically been the theme with Reach though. The campaign has no special moments to speak of, and some levels just drag on and on. And I felt nothing when Noble Team died. but hey, it's not like I was supposed to, right? Otherwise, Bungie would have given them personalities and character. Sgt. Johnson > Noble Team. I like Halo 3's campaign much more than this one.
And how did you pass the part where you have to activate the cannon? There are 3 or 4 Elites inside the building, all with super strong shields, and one has a plasma cannon. I can use the shitty decoy to run to the cannon, but the plasma-toting faggot always shoots it and kills me.
And fuck this game for being the only FPS released in the past 3 years that doesn't have a default dash. WFT was Bungie thinking making it a power up? Seriously, playing this after Borderlands feels like a step backwards.
Here's what I did: You need a noob combo pair of weapons. Plasma pistols are all over the place after taking out the jackals and grunts in the landing area. For a precision weapon, there's a small room in the landing area with a weapon rack that has the pistol on it. There's also a DMR next to a dead soldier just inside the room with the elites. Anyway, I lured as many grunts to me as possible and head-shot them all. Then I lured the elites to me and used the noob combo against them. For the elites to come after you, you might have to go into the room to the left just inside the area. The elite with the fuel rod cannon won't ever come out after you. So for him, I just rushed him from the stairs with a charged plasma pistol. If you get close enough, he won't shoot because the blast damage will hurt him. Once you hit him with the charged shot, you can finish him off with the DMR. You might have to take out the engineer first, though.
Yeah, that's why I stated that the game was more enjoyable once I pretended the other armor abilities didn't exist. Just keep sprint the whole time.Quote:

I wasn't aware people actually played Heroic. Interesting.
Almost done with my first run of this, then single-player achievements until I can get online working. Aside from flight I didn't even use any abilities until near the end, when I was getting bored of some of the shooting galleries and was entertaining myself by sprinting over to assassinate as many elites as I could.
I always played on Heroic for my first play-through because I feel the game would be over too quickly on Normal and be too frustrating on Legendary. However, playing on Legendary in a second play-through, once I know the ins and outs of the campaign, does make it less of a challenge.
I may get this just to play with TNL, everyone and their mother is on this shit.
Since Halo 2 I always start with Legendary and then go to normal to grab stuff I missed (like the skulls and recordings in Halo 3). I do that just because I rarely play a game through a second time right away, so I like to get everything I can done the first time.
Plus it's awesome to get like four achievements at once for all the difficulty levels when I do beat it.
I just noticed this but Jun may be the only surviving member of Noble team. After he assists Halsey he's not seen or heard from again so he could potentially still be alive somewhere.
I think out of all of them I liked Jorge, Jun, and Emile the most. Carter and Kat just bark orders and stuff but they have some neat Spartan designs.
Honestly I think I liked the ODST guys better than Noble team (and Buck is cooler than Carter) but not by a whole lot.
Finished and capped the session with If They Came To Hear Me Beg. Pretty game, too many shooting galleries.
Also, what the fuck is wrong with Bungie?Just doing one single player game got me almost 50k credits, and I'll lose half of that (and it will steal armor pieces to make that amount if need be) when I go online? Why is the total allowed not equal to a single run through, and instead some arbitrary amount that means nothing? Thanks for being dicks for no particular reason.Quote:
If you initially earn offline Credits and then take your profile online, there will be a onetime check to see how many Credits you’ve acquired. If that amount is over 26,250, you will need to forfeit some Credits. This check is in place to ensure a level playing field and to eliminate foul play.
[...]If you have purchased shiny new Armory items, the authentication process may reclaim armor pieces in order to bring the Credits balance into a positive state. The end result is Armor + Credits = 26,250. No more, no less.
That sucks. I've had to be offline for almost 2 months. Just leaves a bad taste.
Well, on top the lame campaign.
When I first connected last night I authenticated and it removed 16k credits. Then when I connected again this morning it said I still hadn't authenticated and removed 11k. Good job, retard monkey programming team.
Good Easter eggs. Some contain spoilers.

Latro, sorry for not accepting your game invite the other night. I was really bent on finishing the campaign solo on legendary. I'm up for some multi-now though.
I played some 4-player firefight last night with infinite rocket launchers. There was much mayhem and fun! I like this mode very much and would like to blow shit up with TNLers!
That's most of what we were doing last night, I'll probably be on for some in a few hours once I'm done with homework if you're around.
I just need a couple multiplayer and grind achievements and I'm done. They went by really quick, big thanks to Myk's custom room for hooking me up with all the firefight ones.
The cheaters have arrived on Reach. That was fast.
BTW does anyone even like ANY of the MP maps in this game? They are all super shitty. WTF happened? Waiting on DLC is a shit excuse especially with Halo's "everyone in the lobby has to have the DLC for you to play on it". In Halo3 once the DLC specific playlists went away - you never got to play on the maps you paid for, heh.
I like the remakes, and Sword Base.
I like the maps. Except for the one remake of that really huge fucker, that one sucks without vehicles.
I <3 Team Slayer on the blood gulch remake. I hate everything else on it.
Have you ever played SWAT on Blood gultch? You aint seen nothing until you do. Someone actually got paid to put that torture in there.
Actually blood gultch is "suppossed" to be for 2 flag CTF but the CTF rules are goofed up in Reach. Requiring the flag to be home to score is fine BUT having a long return time (standing stationary directly on top of the flag no less) is exactly how not to design multi flag CTF in a videogame. Once both teams get the flag back at the base youre not capturing unless one team gets bored of holding the flag (which ive seen happen a few times).
Regardless, remakes are remakes. The original maps in Reach are ass. This game needs ALOT of work on the MP end...
SWAT is going to have its own playlist in an October update (thank god). Hopefully, they'll tweak the CTF rules if enough people complain.
I don't mind swat or snipers but it gets a bit much when every guy who thinks he's good votes for them.
I wish more people would play in team objective.
Also, the grind for captain is fucking painful. Its taken ages just to get through most of Warrant Officer 2, let alone 3.
I'm almost done with Warrant Officer 1. :(
Campaign is dreadful. It started off boring me without offending me, then totally lost me when it rolled out the Gummi Ship. I think I'm done.
MP is fucking rad, though.
Only achievements I need left are the two rank grind ones and winning invasion on the first round. Anyone for some of the latter tonight?
I'm less than halfway to Captain, I'll be on later hopefully. Warrant Officer takes fucking foreverrrrrrr
Hey let's play some Reach ok?
Nope. NHL 11.
I guess I am getting Gaylo. Can't pass this deal up.
Sure. I live by the anchor bar

NICE
Omg noobwurked I need to play through the campaign this weekend!!!!!
Gaylo Reach Around acquired. I will help you in your quest this weekend.
They updated some of playlists in this game + other changes. But oh look, TNL already stopped playing it.
Anyways, SWAT has been moved to its own playlist for one (thank god). Scorpions have been removed from Blood Gultch (a 5 year old could tell you scorpions were a bad idea). All this is well and good but this game needs good maps in a hurry.
I still play, but I only play campaign and Firefight.
Also, finally ranked up to Captain.
I'm happy for Rocket Race and SWAT being moved out of Slayer. I also finally bought my blue visor.
I'll be playing again eventually, my girlfriend hasn't been working enough nights lately
I liked SWAT being in the Slayer playlist. If you don't like SWAT, I'm afraid you're a pussy.
If anything needs its own playlist, it's the racing trash. I've had just about enough Infection, too, especially on Zealot. Run into the guys perched in the low gravity area until they run out of bullets! Good times!
Hopefully they'll get around to adding a grab bag playlist or whatever it was called in Halo 3 that had Griff Ball, Sumo and etc.
SWAT isn't Halo, period. Go play COD for that gameplay. It makes people think they are good at the game. Take out the Halo shield system and zero skills required. See bad guy - insane sticky aim to the head - shoot. Rinse, repeat. "U so leet" and all that but its the truth. Glad that shit is separated for the braindead masses. Besides, the main problem was it was nearly impossible to play normal slayer because idiots voted for SWAT 100% of the time.
fuck yo couch
The people who do best in normal gametypes are the same people that do best in SWAT. I've never seen any huge paradigm shift where noobs become not-noobs.
Total nonsense. 1 shot 1 kill and youll likely spawn right behind people somewhere in the match. Theres a reason SWAT is so popular now, post the COD explosion and wasnt during the Halo 3 days. A bad Halo player has a good chance of not getting a single kill in normal slayer. Ive seen it happen all the time with noob friends. But yeah, a good player isnt going to get any worse in SWAT.
Destro, you're playing the wrong game ;) It'll all be better next week...
SWAT isn't Halo, and I like playing Halo. I'm glad they took it out.
I still play, but it's battling for my evening time with postseason baseball right now.
I have a thesis to finish. When that's done, you'll see me online more often.
So, is the single player worth a damn?
No.
Pretty happy I skipped out on this for Dead Rising 2.
For what its worth, I think its the best campaign so far.
Halo 3 campaign is more fun and epic than Reach. Reach started out strong, but got really boring toward the middle/end. Those space shooter and helicopter levels can DIAF.
I liked Halo 3's more. More epic moments. But basically if you liked the previous games' single player, then you'll probably like Reach's. If not, I doubt the jet pack addition will be enough to convert you. If you haven't played the older games, avoid paying near full price for Reach and get one of them.
