These were dumbed down pretty hard, I gotta say.

In Japan, even the communist party has a cute mascot.
I would have replied to it sooner had I not gone to bed. Thanks for asking.Quote:
So, are you assclowns going to continue to ignore Jame's valid point
That's not universally true. If we're going to use that word, the most fun I have in playing games is when it's the most intense.
You learn less and waste more time in experiencing accomplish-accomplish-fail than compared to fail-fail-fail. If anything, I consider having to replay easy shit as part of the punishment for fucking up somewhere later in the game; a way of the game saying "Look, you sucked at that part so bad maybe you should go back to basics and do this again".Quote:
By sticking the player at the beginning of the level when they run out of lives, or back at a checkpoint after losing one, they ensure they've got one or two bits the player can be good at before kicking his ass again. They're viewing a cycle of accomplish-accomplish-fail as better than fail-fail-fail-fail-fail.
Having to replay things which I know I can do over and over again just to get to the parts that I can't do tends to infuriate me just as much as fucking up at that later part over and over again. If anything, after repeated replays, I get rushed because I'm spending so much time replaying easy shit that I lose focus and make some other mistake in retreading my progress to where I was stopped. Now I'm not even reaching my furthest point of progress in the game and I have to replay easy shit yet again. After a few more iterations of this I turn the game off because all I'm doing is spending 95% of the time replaying shit I know I can do.
That method of design is probably what works for most players, but I know it doesn't work for me.

Jesus Christ close this horrible thread already. Squall is making my head hurt with stupidity.
Wii Fit needs checkpoints because you keep eating pie. Clearly.
Uh, in that interview they're just talking about balancing the difficulty of games, which every developer has to do. And Miyamoto talks about experiencing difficulty in moderation. You don't have to agree with that, but there's no reason to act like he has a Hitler mustache.
You can criticize Nintendo for a million things lately, and you'd be right. I just bought a PS3 recently instead of a Wii, because I'm personally annoyed by Nintendo throwing creativity out the window when it comes to art design lately. NSMBW looks fun, but it also looks super bland.
But their games really haven't gotten that much easier. The Pikmin games, Metroid Prime games, Super Mario Galaxy/Brothers Wii, Wii Mario Kart...these games aren't really any easier than the older games. They may have more annoying tutorial pop ups, but that's another matter altogether.
In a lot of ways, Nintendo are supporting the original spirit of gaming more than anyone these days, honestly. You guys should give them a bit of slack. Sure, they've had Nintendogs and Wii Fit, but they also had Mario Paint and Mario is Missing in the old days. And I will forgive them for Super Princess Peach because it was a cute idea.
Like I said before, I skipped the Wii for now, but it has a pretty decent library of interesting games at this point, despite all the flaws it has as hardware.
Personally I almost bought one just for Sin and Punishment 2.
LOL at that list
The last challenging game Nintendo made was F-Zero GX. And later, Miyamoto expressed his disappointment with it. Amd there hasn't been another one since, at least not on anything other than the GBA
And Nintendo didn't focus all their effort marketing Mario is Missing. Wii Fit is Nintendo's biggest game now. An "exercise" game that doesn't help you get in shape.
