BUT FROG DON'T WANT ANECDOTAL EXPERIENCES!
The no kids thing really is the main factor more than race or anything else. Single people get the "here's some food stamps, bitch" treatment. That anecdote doesn't contradict anything I said. I know you can't get much welfare without kids. I said that already.
It is pretty ridiculous that actual school isn't considered acceptable as a substitute for job training courses though. They should change that.
Maybe you should pay to feed all the starving kids of the world, not just the american ones with lazy parents.
We do spend a lot of money to try to help those people, but the problems of other countries often run a lot deeper than just mailing a check.
Yeah, I know that. I think even unemployment has some perks if you're in college here. I assume Dole's talking about New York.
Since, he lives in LI. I think so.
I seriously hope that's a fucking joke.
I'm not saying starve the kids, I'm saying give the parents an ultimatum, work, get educated, or try harder to find something, because you aren't riding this train 'til death. And if they're trying, let them get a check every first of the month, and if they just want loaf about doing nothing, FUCK THEM. It's not punishing the kids, because the state can find placement with another relative or a foster home.
I would hope the state would take little Johnny away for the latter.
No, not really, I can see tons of possible solutions and I'm willing to bet that given the ultimatum, most would at least choose school over getting a job immediately, and I'm 100% for that, or at least try to get work.
The idea that she can afford them is the point, she's not supposed to, it upsets me that she gets so much for nothing when she really should be struggling more (because the point is that you're supposed to struggle, so you don't just settle there, so that you can do more to provide for your family.) I don't care that anyone gets more of anything than my kids, because my kids have enough shit already, but that she can afford to be so flagrant in her abuse of the system does in fact bother me, as it should anyone working to support this person. And that you can't see the ugliness of this whole thing and at least attempt to get at a solution that adresses the abuses is astonishing to me. That's what govt. is supposed to do, and they've washed their hands of the situation because it's "too big" or "too complex" a problem, and that's what we put these assholes in office to do in the first place.Quote:
I mean Shine is mad because a little girl got My Little Ponies she didn't deserve and thinks she should be taken from her mom as a result. The resentment really becomes crazy talk at a certain point. You just have to accept some of the system's inefficiencies as inevitable and necessary evils. It's really not a big deal, it's not a big part of our tax burden, and it gives kids a chance they deserve.
Lastly, some kids are assholes, it's that simple, not everyone deserves a chance, and certainly not on my back. I still give to charities I believe in, because there's always some poor schlub that has it worse. If I had the means, I'd totally sponsor a family and help them get back on their feet, but it'd be a family of my choosing, someone that I saw as beneficial at some future time, if given the opportunity. Since I can't do that myself, it's the job of govt to pick for me, and it's picking all the wrong people.
