I had the creme brulee the other day. It was quite wonderful. Stronger than I expected too!
Another liquor store today and more beer to try. I found a 4 pack of Sam Smiths Oatmeal Stout, drinking it now. Its not bad so far, need to try another one to know how I feel about it for sure. I wish it came in cans though. The one thing I'm noticing about stouts in bottles is they lack that creamy head that I enjoy about them. I also picked up some Sierra Nevada Porter as that was suggested for me to try as well. Making a roast and potatoes for dinner, think I'll try the porter with that.
I hate all Sierra Nevadas.
Re: the Oatmeal Stout-- I was working the register one night at old store and some ghetto ass black guy came in and was so excited that we had Oatmeal Stouts and bought out all the 22oz bottles. I was like wow, really like it eh? He was so high on it that he bought all of them at like $5 a bottle and gave me one. It was pretty good but I wouldn't pay the price.
Don't all bars nitro pour Guinness? The shitty ass dive bar I worked at even had a nitro pour for it.
No luck yet, part of the problem is I've been really busy so I've only been hitting up stores near me, which suck ass. As soon as I get more free time in the day I know of a couple of places like 30 - 45 minutes away I want to try.
I liked the Sam Smith's Oatmeal stout, but I feel like it would be even better if it came in a can with a nitrous pack. Plus I wish it was a little cheaper, shit was expensive. A combo of Murphy's Irish Stout and Guinness may be my day to day beer. I REALLY liked the Murphy's.
I just discovered a place with a pretty decent beer selection about 2 blocks from me. I've been using the fucking supermarket since liquor stores can't sell beer here. I am excited--will check it out in a couple days.
I can't think of many more beers that have the nitro cans. The expense of "good" beer makes me drink it differently than cheap beer. I can nurse a single stout or porter for an hour, and it's okay, because it does not need to be ice cold.
When getting into beer, most people that I have encountered follow a similar path. They are introduced to "dark" beers, and the sweetness, smooth texture, and high ABV start to appeal to the palate. At some point, you will try a pale ale and start to see hoppiness as more than bitterness. A six pack of Dale's really opened a new world of beer for me.
