Sixpoint Resin. I love this thing. Too bad it's expensive and hard to find, even in Brooklyn.

Resin is awesome. Find some Deviant Dale's if you can.
Deviant Dales is going to be year round now. Praise jebus.
That's a good one. Up there with Burton Baton.
Victory Brewery Golden Monkey ... holy shit.
I'm aging it ...
It's a fine, sweet beer.
But lets not get carried away here.
Beer noob.
I can't wait for his next review of WOODCHUCK CIDER
I want to know why golden monkey went from an affordable belgian style tripel to an overpriced pissbomb.
At least he is branching out
More like trying to find what I actually like.
Last 10 beers I've tried.
Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout
Banana Bread Stout
Shiner Blonde
Troegs Nugget Nectar
Victory Golden Monkey
Paulander
Shiner Old Tyme
Dirty Bastard
Spaten
DogFish Head Saison Du Buff
Out of all of them I liked Dirty Bastard the best. I have also asked a few of you for recommendations. Only a few stepped up and considering I was more of a Wine and Scotch drinker and never a beer drinker. I think I've tried to expand. Then again I could just say go fuck off and get the same bullshit from mostly everyone.
Mostly.
Go fuck off.
Sensitive (almost) Saturday.
Who makes the dirty bastard? I don't know if I've seen it.
Founders Brewery.
Founders is a decent brewery - kind of surprised, though, that among those 10 that that's your preference.
I'd recommend, for you, McEwan's Scotch Ale, Innis & Gunn Oak Aged (the original one - not the rum or Irish whiskey), He'Brew R.I.P.A, and maybe try a Dogfish Chicory Stout.
Their Breakfast Stout is heaven.
FUCK YOU you can find McEwan's? I thought it stopped getting imported a few years back.
If you hear anything please let me know. This has become SRS BSNS
Advocate: Also, try Old Chub from Oscar Blues
A tampon, too.
Lilja's Sasquatch Stout. It isn't so bad but this weather isn't really up for such a heavy beer. Also, my mother tried to give me a Corona this morning because we're celebrating our heritage. I slapped it out of her hand and just looked at her while I walked away. She won't make the same mistake twice.
Made a mint jelup for the Kentucky Derby with some Sazerac rye.
Sixpoint's new Resin is pretty good. Easily drinkable at a high ABV.
Tried some Woodford Reserve Double Oaked bourbon tonight. Probably the worst bourbon I've tasted. It smells like toffee, artificial banana, and chemicals. Tastes the same but more like banana bread than straight banana. The chemical stench is so repulsive. It comes off as completely unnatural, like drinking some grape drink when you're expecting grape juice.
edit - I take it back, this is not the worst rye or bourbon I've ever tasted. It's real bad, but the Hudson Manhattan Rye whiskey was worse. My notes for that were raisins, bad tequila, and water.
Need recomendations for saisons or farmhouse ales not brewed by the usual suspects. Go!
North Coast le merle
Goose island sofie
The Sofie is legit. I'll look around for the other one.
Thanks.
I avoid saisons. I think I've had two or three in my life and none impressed me.
I've been stupid into Avery lately. Who here lives in Colorado and can work with me on getting some bottles of White Rascal?
Yeah they pulled out of MD because of distribution issues. Sucks. Adam is a gigantic pothead.
I can see what I can do for you guys. Is there anything I should know about transporting this shit? Since it's technically illegal to do it across state lines?
Luckily I've been able to get a lot of their stuff around here on tap lately and most of their bottled stuff is around me between two or three locations, but it's all their seasonal stuff and that crazy Czar/Maharaja/Kaiser line at the bottle shops. Which is awesome and all, don't get me wrong, but I've never once been able to find White Rascal in a bottle out here.
White Rascal isn't that great.
Mephistopheles is worth having shipped to you.
White Rascal is my favorite wheat beer.
I can get Mephistopheles at the bottle shop on the corner.
So go talk to the owner of the corner shop that obviously has access to Avery's year round selections.
Tried that, he's a cunt and won't special order when I only want a few.
He'll only order it if I'll buy all the bottles and he won't get less than 50.
That's fucking stupid he insists on that amount.
Cases come in 12 or 24 in nearly every case and can be ordered with the barest of effort. I mean, I can understand him wanting you to buy them all, but to insist on so much is silly.
He's a real dick and very, like, persian flashy with gold chains and shit.
I asked hin about White Rascal and some seasonal Sam Adams brews I wanted a few bottles of and he basically went "you buy fifty I get you them, you want less? no, I not have space, no. someone else, you need someone smaller".
I don't have anywhere else close to ask and I only want like six. FML
I'll see if I can get it. Pretty sure I can.
I can get it.
You sure can, big boy.
I live in San Diego, talk to me about pricing to get some of those out here. Whats the smallest amount you could realistically order for me?
I would love some six packs. Maybe two of them?
No rush at all, just let me know how much and how you want me to pay you.
Go talk to the guys at the Pizza Port bottle shop. They have Avery stuff, I've seent it!
Currently enjoying a 2004 120min and a 2005 Worldwide Stout. Happy graduation to me these things aged beautifully.
Oh fuck you. All I have is a skunked Newcastle. Sad days.
I picked up some Terrapin Moo-Hoo Chocolate Milk Stout from Eathfare yesterday. My first impression was very positive. I actually like it better than Young's, though I admittedly have only had that once I think.
4 pack of Matilda and Deviant Dale's acquired. Also two more 75 mins, and two saisons by the Bruery.
Bangin.
Send me a 75. Can't find it for shit.
I'll pack one in the box I'm sending to Rhydant. Deal?
Two things:
1) We're about 7 hours apart.
2.) You're never sending Rhydant those beers. Ever.
1) that's your problem
2) there are specific beers I am looking for. I have two of them. Looking for the other ones.
3) eat it, slut.
I am patiently waiting for those beers. Unlike Frog, I can count on Josh.
Had an oak barrel aged Sculpin IPA on Thursday. Tasted like I was chewing woodchips all damn night. Still pretty good though.
Also: Black Diamond Rampage triple imperial IPA. Mother of god. Amazing.
Ive been hittimg the bottle shop a lot lately, I can't even remember all the stuff I've had.
Recomend me IPAs and ambers that are good and commonly found out west
Had an 06 Immort Ale. It smelled like vanilla, and tasted like drinking a maple tree that had been on fire, but is now just smoldering.
I mean this in the best possible way, btw.
Broke out this special reserva whatever the fuck. It is funky as hell. Get it if you can find it. Attachment 65931
We're trying to go Only Domestic with our beer list, but it's going to take some time to wean people off imports.
It's cheaper and better for the world.
Better for our economy
Less fuel spent on shipping, ostensibly fresher beer, more support for brewers I actually speak to, etc.
I love me a Belgian quad, but there are good examples of every beer style being made here.
That's not to say we won't ever smuggle in something special, but 9/10 domestic product is the aim.
We're trying to do the same with wine, but it's much harder at our price point to get quality domestic product.
I agree wholeheartedly with this. When it comes to food and drink I'm proud to be a Murican.
I will continue to drink imported beer when I want to.
S'cool. It's not dogma to be followed.
But all things considered I buy a tremendous amount more beer than y'all. It's far more important for me to be making good decisions.
In a restaurant, making that kind of decision makes sense because you can totally get away with it depending on how it works with the menu.
My mouth is less discriminatory.
That's what she said.
About beer... Yesterday a couple of us did the obligatory beer-grill. Notable beers were 2005 Olde School barleywine which I believe could stand to age a couple more years (I know, right?). It retained all that super syrupy nose but mellowed the harshness of the alcohol to a smooth almost cream soda. Also Anchorage White Ipa. Beautiful head retention, citrus and "cat piss" on the nose, almost champagne-like mouthfeel with a brett/saison funk and light wheat balance.
I've got two bottles from 09, 10, and 11. I guess I'll keep waiting on them.
That Anchorage IPA sounds awesome.
It's called Galaxy
In celebration ... I had Deaths Door White Whiskey(left shot glass), Deviant Dale's IPA(tall), and a BBQ Pulled Pork Sammy from The Whiskey Bar at the Revel Resort in AC.
real good shit.
Bad camera phone makes bad camera pics.

Got a ticket to savor. Untappd badges get!
May god's urine flow into your eyes.
Also Flying Dog paid for me to get my Cicerone beer server certification this week. They are making all the people in marketing study and get certified. I totally respect this.
Does anyone have a list of beer I should try out here in California? I'm open to anything.
Idk, ask one of the employees at one of the trillion incredible beer stores in your area.
Snarky answers are unappreciated.
really though

Just start trying shit you've never heard of. If you want a list you're going to get a bunch of elitist west coast "100 bottle releases" like Russian River Pliny the Elitist West Coast Pompous Ass, when you should be experimenting on your own. If I were in San Fran, I'd be visiting the following breweries:
Lagunitas
Anchor
21st Amendment
Rogue
....and more!
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR
O? I think I'm going to Speakeasy this week but I'm glad it has the other breweries in town. Maybe my next few weekends will be these places. Thanks, yo.
Oyeah, also Ballast Point!
San Diego is only 8 hours away. :(
Everything by Russian River is good except their sours. Pliny the Elder shouldn't be that hard to find in bottles, it's in and out of stock in LA all the time.
Everything by the Bruery is good, particularly their sours, but I don't think any of their sours have wide distribution so idk if you can get them. If you see any of their anniversary beers (Coton, Papier, whatever they call this years) they are worth a try, but expensive at $20 a bottle.
Firestone Brewery is good. I like their standard double barrel ale and Velvet Merlin. Their special editions are very good- XV, Succabus, Parabola.
If you see a Nectar Ales Black Xantus you should buy one. It's probably my fav barrel aged stout. It's so well integrated.
Port Brewing company is great. I love their Old Viscosity and Older Viscosity stouts. They make great IPAs too.
I agree with Hub on Ballast Point. Their Victory at Sea coffee vanilla porter is a stand by of mine.
Would doing a TNL beer club again be a good idea?
Distribution really hampers the idea.
Yeah, you're right. Oh well.
I thought I'd give tequila a shot. Store recommended me some 200ml bottles of Penca Azul reposado on special for $15. It's a nice drink and very easy to sip neat. I can see pulling this out on a hot day. The nose is a lot of salt and pepper on top of a light creamy lime/vanilla base. Tastes like that too with a nice bit of the agave fruit.
I don't get people who buy stupid expensive tequila. If it's made with agave, it'll be decent. I always get the clear one because it's easier to make margaritas with without trying to mask the darker one's flavour.
I don't think I have ever drank tequila without a really bad night coming out of it. I seem to recall warping from a restaurant in Mexico to our place in Padre where shit got even worse.

A real American Hero.
Is that the Dos Equis guy?
He doesn't always pose for pictures, but when he does, its with hubbiton.
IRONY
Can anyone point me to a lager that won't make me want to vomit immediately? I think the last lager I had that I enjoyed were the Session Black. Anything else falls hard to any other type of beer I've had.
Vomit? I mean I know they're usually incredibly boring to drink, but vomit?
Every Oktoberfest beer is a lager. There are so many good ones. Lager yeast doesn't impart any of the fruity or interesting characteristics you get from ale yeast so, yeah, mostly boring as thief said.
Then of course there is California common....
Edit: if there really is nobody here that can name the guy in the picture I am going to be really bummed about this thread.
His name is Charlie and that's all I know.
Not going to lie, I tried a few google phrases to try and figure out which Charlie he was.
