I don't think there really is a standard, but most stuff seems to be around 4.5 by my estimate give or take, but Belgian Quadrupels go up to like 10-12%, and I'm sure you can find shit higher than that (ask Josh). I don't drink light beers at all so I don't know about any of this 3% shit gamevet's talking about.

I think the strongest beer in the world comes in at 25%

Personally, I tend to enjoy beers that fall between 7-10% There is a lot of flavour there to balance out the alcohol.

Now that I think about it, I think there actually are some places down south that regulate stronger beers. But I think the cut off is 6%, so whatever.
