Damn Skippy!
I just called, they cant do multi-template prints, so basically i can choose two of those for print on each side.
I am thinking the BW Car and Legoman, or BW Car and Rockstar picture. Or any other suggestions? I think that the contrast between the sides would be best, and while the motocross and BW car would be eye catching, they dont really sell the fact i also do fashion/promotional work with people.
I think either one of those would be good - Legoman has more color, but the rockstar pic would go toward a fashion market. I'd do like Josh said and swap out the website for a phone number on one side, though.
I don't like any of them. And I'm not trolling. None of the stuff I've posted in this thread has been solely for the lulz. None of those designs work as a business card. Don't fall in love with your first draft...
Your portfolio belongs on your website, not your business card. An attractive layout works better than a wallet sized photo with text thrown haphazardly on top of it.
Also... the cut lines are NEVER pixel perfect... so allow yourself some space for error.
I'm not at work so I can be a little more in-depth:
In order for them to run separate prints they have to take everything off-press and set it up again. Set up is 80% of the cost in most print runs. If you're going to do 1 then use the bike in the air on the front (or whatever is your most popular photography style. If you book a lot of weddings then put weddings. If you WANT to do more concerts then put the concerts on there instead) and on the reverse print your contact information neatly. If your photos are vertical try doing an entire layout vertically instead of the traditional horizontal style. Do not print the same thing or two big photos on either side of the card with just your name and URL. It's functionally bad design. Don't waste both sides without putting your contact info on the card. Me, personally, I wouldn't put a photo on the card at all unless it really grabbed peoples attention or spoke to your style (which is your brand). You don't seem to have a distinctive style or genre, yet.
Josh is right. You're making people do an extra step to be able to contact you directly (by making them go to your website). Put your contact info on one side and keep the fancy schmancy stuff to the other. NAME, WHAT YOU DO > PHONE NUMBER, E-MAIL ADDRESS > WEBSITE URL, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, ETC.
What if he crops a horizontal strip from each of the six photos and stacks them up to create a vertical bar on the left third side of the card (leaving some white space to the left), then his name and contact info right-justfied in black serifed text centered on the right??
That should shut-up Josh, leave negative space on the card and still get some color and an idea of his work on the card!
Number and email were still going to make it in, those were still general designs.
Ill keep screwing with things and post some more updated ones later, gotta make my train
