Several Gameworks Locations Bite The Dust

Several Gameworks locations including the well-performing Easton Town Center one are now no more. The Easton one's going titsup is puzzling. Usually it had been moderately busy. This location was a nice one IMO.

I actually went there tonight and saw a "due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been forced to close" sign. The guest relations staff confirmed that the place had actually been closed since Monday. FWIW, gameworks.com lists only 8 locations now.

This blows, but at least I still have 2 Dave & Buster's nearby.

Looks like the one in Grapevine (Dallas) is still open. I haven't been to that place in ages. $1-3 per play. :lol:

Now here's something with a more positive side. Some locations may reopen in the future. I think my GW may have fallen victim to Easton's high rental fees. But given how well this location did, it would not surprise me to see a new GW pop up somewhere to replace it.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. I still have a card with 200 credits on it, that I'd purchased well over 4 years ago.

They have maybe 2 new machines since the last time I went there in November. I'm amazed that it's been open as long as it has.

D&B's is a lot closer to home for me so i never really went to GW all that much

Damnit! I still had like $30 worth of credit on my card there too.

That Gameworks had Taiko Drum Master, now I can't play it properly anymore. Plus they had a better selection of games than our D&B, but like Truck said D&B was way closer so that's where we went more often.

The one Gameworks I visited wasn't all that, so I don't mind. Sorry for you guys who lived by one, though?

SEGA seems to be preparing for a major comeback.

The one in downtown Mpls. has closed or is closing. Good riddance. The only thing decent they had was South Park Pinball, and I can play that 22 miles from me at a bowling alley.

The one in Las Vegas sucks major balls.

At least Razing Storm is at D&B. After Burner Climax? Even if the 360 (4/21) & PS3 (4/22) versions are imminent, playing the Commander unit is especially cool - even if it just tilts laterally. Neither D&B by me has this.

I'll be buying both console versions of ABC, since I appreciate Sega bringing this one out at last. Hopefully the 360 one will find its way into another XBLA Unplugged pack.
