Yeah it's retarded. This needs to be top news.
I feel he should be reasonably punished for leaking the docs. But 1) he hasn't even gone to trial yet, and 2) there's no reason on earth to throw a whistle blower in the hole!

Technically if he's found for Treason he will be hung.
Being a whistle blower and leaking embarrassing documents to the media sure as fuck isn't treason.
Manning, if convicted, clearly broke the law and should be punished. But this is what happens with a torture regime. At first they are just doing it to the swarthy dark guys beyond the border. Nobody really complains because, hey, they are foreigners and probably doing bad shit anyway. Then they move on to domestic targets and use it to stifle dissent (does anyone actually think that Manning is being treated like this for any reason but to set an example?). Then they move to, well, whoever they feel like. Hell, the President already claims this power and has for a while now.

Solitary is often used both as a protective and punishment measure. As a military prisoner other more "patriotic" prisoners may assault him or worse. But yeah for all the good obama has done he's still a disappointment as he refuses to relinquish the powers seized by the previous administrations. And a lot of other issues.Quote:

There's no reason to even keep the guy in prison in the first place. He hasn't even been charged and it's not like he'll be able to get access to classified data again. They could have put an anklet on him and placed him under house arrest.
