GAY.

well, if it has a really cool Museum and Sonic CD, im in.
sucks though, i was really looking forward to something big from Sonic Team, and also because of the EGM rumors.
oh well...
Shit, I agree with exactly what Lucas just said.
I'm confused - with every new Sonic game - GC, DC, GBA or otherwise - a good lot has lamented about how these should be like the Genesis classics. Now we get those classics and it's 'gay?' Where'd you lose me at?
The key word here is like -- not the exact same thing regurgitated onto a GC disc. Assuming the Mega Collection is indeed what the name would suggest, anyway.Quote:

But I never really dug sonic to begin with, sooo...
because we already HAVE the classics and have played them to death for over ten years. We want NEW classic style Sonic games. =) And none of that U.S. programmed Sonic 3 crap.Quote:

Well actually, despite being such a SEGA fanboy, the Sonic series is one of my least liked. I mean I do like them, but if I only owned one through out the entire series (SA excluded) I wouldn't notice. I do however like the character of Sonic though, which is why I'm always looking forward to the next one and hoping they'll use him better next time.Quote:

and sega pushes the DC further into oblivion...
I'm rather disappointed by this news...not only have two of the DC's killer apps now lost their DC exclusivity, but Sonic Team have begun to descend into the depths of developmental mediocrity by continually rehashing their past efforts, rather than trying something new. Why couldn't they work on a new Sonic , NiGHTs or Burning Rangers game, or maybe even create a new franchise? You'd think something along those lines would sell much better than a cheap port of something Sega's long term fans have already played to death, wouldn't you?
I foresee the price of Sonic Jam plummeting in the near future. I for one like to have games re-released in sets. It saves me space, so I am all for it.
Of course, I wouldn't trade a new Sonic console game for it...
I rather like the idea, hell if for nothing else but to show some of the fetus gamers out there what 2/d goodnes is about.
I know everyone is tired of the ports and stuff but give them time, id rather waite that extra bit to get an extra good game.
Who knows they might be keeping the next big thing like Nights 2 or a new Sonic game under wraps...
I think this is pretty cool. I don't have any problem with it at all, even though I own Sonic Adventure and most of the classic games as well.
Gamecube is supposedly easy to port to from Dreamcast, so why not give people more people access to these wonderful games. Many youngsters may not have played the classic games. So having them on Gamecube is great... and sadly many people passed up on Sonic Adventure, which is also a great game. I am happy more people will get to play it.
I also don't think that this announcement does not mean that Sonic Team will not be working on other projects. I consider things like this to be more of a bonus than a replacement for brand new games.
:)
And another thing. Using "gay" as an insult sounds really fucking stupid. :(
Unless you meant gay in the sense that this announcement made you happy. If so I am gay about it as well. :)
It's kinda like what Capcom's doing with Resident Evil 2 & 3, I suppose... And believe or not, there are many people who haven't played those classic Sonic games. So, in that case, it's good Sega's releasing that Sonic Mega Collection on GC.
But I was really hoping they'd do something different than straight ports... (turn them into 2.5D like Klonoa perhaps?)
Oi vay! Not again...Quote:

The thing that you have to remember is that Sonic Team is that they have about 200 employees, and I imagine they have other teams working on stuff we don't know about yet.
There was an Eagles song about this... What was the name again... Oh yeah... Get Over ItQuote:

I'm all for the rerelease of the 16-bit Sonic games and the rerelease of classic games in general. It would be a shame if the younger generation was never exposed to them. I hope Sonic lands on all 3 current systems and not just GC.
Well, if the Eagles sung about it.... who am I to argue with the greatest minds of our time.Quote:

Yeh, and the GBA game will probably be handled by Dimps who made Sonic Pocket and Sonic Advance 1 for them....Quote:

I have also noticed that some of the other GBA games were developed by others as well. Puyo Pop was developed by ^Carat House^, for example. Of course these are just GBA games, but the point being that they are not shy about bringing in people to work on different projects.
I don't think porting Sonic Adventure will preclude the development of new games. It's a bonus.
i hope this comp has some really awesome features and extras really make it worth buying.
maybe a crap load of downloadable GBA games or something. maybe some making of documentarys, Sonic Time Line, and all kinds of art.
cause if this isn't atleast a big comp, what the fuck has Sonic Team been up to? they've been making PSO and.....
im getting to curious about whatever it is that Sonic Team is really working on. they've been working on it for a while now and i really want to know what it is.
I'm all for compilations, as long as they improve upon the original, but what the hell is Sonic Team doing? Naka isn't even in charge of PSO ep. 1 and 2, so he must be doing something else. Unless they are REALLY remaking the old sonics, I doubt he'd be involved in this. I wish they would spill the beans so that we could see stuff like this as a bonus instead of a replacement for new games.
Compared to their dreamcast years(all 2 of them), multiplatform SEGA has been lame as fucking possible.
I can't wait for Sonic Team to make a new Sonic, Nights or Burning Rangers so we can all gripe about why they aren't making a brand-new game. And vice versa.
I can't say I'm pissed.
I just hope Sonic team handles the next advance their damn selves.
NO! I have already played all of the classic Sonic games, and therefore everyone else in the world has too and couldn't possibly be interested in a compilation! God, they need to work on a new 2D Sonic, that's the only thing that could possibly satisfy me and properly pander to my tastes. Oh, a new Sonic Advance for GBA? That's so gay. Why can't they just make some sort of 2.5D Sonic for Xbox with just the right amount of Knuckles, a few shoot-em-up levels, RPG elements, and naked women. God, as much as I love Sega, they just don't know what they're doing.
Best. Post. EVAR!!!Quote:

Well I am Sure Sonic Team is working on something, so this SA port and Sonic Mega Comp. does not have me down. I am not a HUGE Sonic fan, I like Sonic but he is not my favorite. Sonic 1 is still my favorite Sonic the Hedgehog game. It would be cool if this Sonic Comp has like all of the Game Gear Sonics, Sonic Spinball, Knuckles Choatix and such, then I think it would do a lot better then just say Sonic 1-3. I don't quite understand the port of SA really, the game is several years old now, but whatever. I just hope they add some things to it or something, one thing I would like them to do is get rid of the surrounding city and train station and all of that crap. I HATED having to go through all that usless junk to get to a level. They just made it way too big, Mario 64 did a much better Job on the Hub. Well whatever.
Man, unless this comp has Sonic CD (which was the only thing keeping Sonic Jam for the Saturn perfect) and some other cool stuff like all the GG Sonic games, then I don't give a crap. Here's hoping the EGM Quarterman rumour about a new Sonic game with none of the extra crap characters with lots of speedy old-school action levels are true. Anyways, Sega neeks a AAA kick to the groin for their GC support. Can't wait to see how gay most of those 15 Sega GC games slated for next year will be. Lots of sports 'n ports no doubt.

What happened to the new Sonic game that wasn't going to be part of the Adventure series and was going to have the "best camera for a 3D game ever"? I guess its being made, we'll just have to wait longer. If a Sonic comp does come out for GC, I think thats great because it will be a bunch of great 2D games on a next gen system. If its cheap, has Sonic CD (which I've never played) with the japanese soundtrack, and tons of extras then I'll be happy.
Someone seems to be getting this all confused...Quote:

In any case, I was hoping for a new 3D Sonic. I love 2D for almost all my favorite genres, but Sonic's just shown to be more fun in 3D then he was in 2D, so I want a new game, dammit.
But since I don't own all the Sonics, this should help me anyway.

I agree with him. A man of your incomperable wit, can most certainly come up with a better insult/adjective than "gay". Like maybe the ever popular "retarded".
AAAARRRGGGHHHH! I just won an auction for Sonic Jam yesterday too! If Mega whatchamacallit is an enhanced Sonic Jam I will be PISSED!!!
But hey, it could be worse... Sega could've announced a game entirely devoted to "digging up the gems" starring Knuckles! Or we could be getting a port of Sonic 3D Blast... god I hope we're not...
Traveler's Tales sucks...

Like what Yoshi mentioned about that Eagles song... "Get over it". The Dreamcast is dead, it doesn't matter if it has exclusives or not. Sega does not make $5 off of any of those "exclusive" games that someone picks up from the bottom of the bargain bins. More or less, Ebay merchants are probably keeping the profits, making themselves more and more fat from the money they make. I say, bring over every damn DC game that's left and quit complaining about it already.Quote:

Then eventually we'll be getting some new games... Sonic or otherwise.
Gamespot says that it is a new game in the Sonic series. You have the new game, the collection, and Sonic Advance 2 all coming to the Gamecube.
Read it here and finally stop your fucking bitching. Seriously.
Awesome.Quote:

aye looks to be a new game plus the compilation (which is cool IMHO) i only paid 3 bucsk for Sonic Jam
as long as it has Sonic CD then ill pick it up
No more bitching about no new games from Sonic Team and no more bitching about the lack of good SEGA games coming to Gamecube. Double score! And yes, I'm aware that I was guilty of the former.
Here's hoping Sonic Adventure 3 rocks the casbaw, and that it hooks up to Sonic Advance 2. Snazzy.
You may go back to your previous whining. Cube IGN says there was miscommunication between SOJ and SOA and that the new Sonic isn't a new Sonic at all, but the previously rumored Sonic Adventure 1. Yay.
http://cube.ign.com/articles/363/363873p1.html
Let's whine about... Gamespot! And their cruddy news reporting!! Yay!
I don't fault Gamespot, they were only passing on what they had been told. Who knows, IGN may be wrong here instead.
...And then promptly kills it.Quote:

I only heard about this "new" Sonic rumor from that Gamespot article you pointed out and from the rumors in EGM. I haven't checked out the IGN article but I know Gaming-Age reported that it was most likely a port of Sonic Adventure, although specifics weren't announced about it...Quote:

Ah poop.
Um, it's not like there won't be a new Sonic game just because it has not been announced yet. I think we can all sleep soundly tonight safe in the knowledge that a brand new Sonic game is being planned or developed somewhere, even if it's not official yet.
If Sonic Adventure 1 is being ported. Great, more people can play that wonderful game. It's just a bonus.
:)
I'm already sleeping soundly at night knowing that Shinobi's coming back and on the PS2. And also a new 2D Castlevania and Metroid are gonna be here this year. Suddenly the world seems right again.Quote:
