TNL's GotM: April 2010

March 2010 Winner: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
That wasn't a big surprise, though I really did expect both God of War III and Yakuza 3 to get more votes. The grand total of three for the latter is just sad. Did none of you play it?

Pretty slow month. The only three big releases were Splinter Cell Conviction, Super Street Fighter IV, and Monster Hunter Tri. That said, there are still a decent number of more obscure releases. Adventure games make a fairly strong showing this month, with two significant releases.

My vote easily goes to Splinter Cell Conviction, but After Burner Climax is also awesome. I'm not really a fan of Ketsui's sit-on-the-enemy's-ass scoring system, but it is nice to finally have a home port of that game. Now where's a home port of Dangun Feveron, Cave?!

Fuck, I'm drunk and voted for the wrong thing. Can you count my vote as SSF2?

There are those that will be right and those that bought the wrong region's 360 and can't be right. ABC would have won many other months but not this one.

edit: And apparently there is bVork, who found another way to be wrong.

This is actually one really tough month to pick. I made my vote but #2 and #3 are about as strong as can be.

Sorry ABC, you're rad as fuck but there are too many other good games this month.

I am still waiting for my copy of Ketsui (wtf) but I have played it before a few times and it's the best game on that list. ABC and SC are also pretty damn sweet.

Super for this month. Its just incredible and I really didnt dig too much on vanilla SF4. Much improved. Finally they get a big budget fighting game's online stuff right! Lobbies, team play, replays wooo.

Super, no question at all.

Super-duper. The fixes to the characters I like, great online modes, rad new characters, the option to have rival music on vs. matches = great game!

I haven't played a single one of these games, but I have a decent paycheck this week, so I'll pick up SSF4, which I'm sure I would vote for, but will refrain from doing at this time.

Also Conviction looks sweet as hell.

I've been wishing for a home port of Ketsui for years but it's not better than SSFIV.

If Conviction had a Spy vs. Mercs mode, I probably would have voted it Game of the Month, even with Super 4 in competition. As it stands, Conviction will always be 2/3rds complete for me.

Games suck, titty mouse pads are win.

Wow...I've only played Afterburner this month.

I voted Monster Hunter. I wish I could have voted Ketsui.

Depends on what you don't like about JRPGs. It's essentially a streamlined version of PS1 era Final Fantasies, except the stories are actually decent. There's a bit too much gear management, but I find it a lot of fun to play, and if you care about content, it's 40+ hours to do everything.

The shitty thing about it is that every story reuses the same areas and bosses and such, which gets a bit monotonous. But yeah, decent Jrpg if you like Jrpgs. If you don't you probably won't like it.

The fact that the stuff carries over makes going through those dungeons again not too bad though. It could have been better, but that would have taken more time and money for Square's experiment with this.

Ketsui. . . but any other month it would have been ABC or SSFIV.

So, I noticed this a bit ago, but how long has Yoshi invalidated his hatred of handhelds with the Iphone?
