EA Sports Locks Multiplayer from Used Copies

That's the bottom line, it's free money.

They're claiming that if 3 million people bought madden new, and no one ever bought it used they could maintain servers for that $30,000,000. But if 2 million of those people sell it, and then 2 million other people buy it new, well now suddenly it costs another $20,000,000 to maintain the exact same server load.

I said used sales were "one" factor. Last I checked used game stores were flooded with used copies of what games this thread is actually about. This thread aint about a 20 year old nes franchise nobody remembers. Horrible example.

The entire nature of the argument makes no sense. Ass loads of used sales will kill the industry? By definition you can't have ass loads of used sales without having ass loads of new sales. It's not like 3 million people are all waiting for their turn to buy the one copy of Madden that got sold and bounced in and out of Gamestop.

Ass loads of used sales indicates the game did very well for the publisher.

Cheebs, I already said "kill the industry" was an exaggeration. Pretty much any game dev will agree with my POV. They hate Gamestop's used game sales. Read the years worth of interviews on the subject. From my memory, didnt Epic start the recent console trend by including free maps in new copies gears 2?

I dont see how used game sales help the industry any. Care to enlighten me? Its nice having some extra incentive to buy new rather than the old way of just having it early and less scratched up.

An incentive is one thing. Removing a mode is a completely different beast. You cannot possibly be this fucking retarded.

Then you're just as backwards as usual. Because this is a response to people who buy used games, especially from GameStop. It has little if anything to do with DLC.

Realistically, the people who buy vanity items are most likely not the reason game companies don't have "enough" money.
