No EA games I want for the foreseeable future, so no problem. Also, if you know where to buy used, like gamefly, they'll still have the codes. I bought Saboteur used, and it had the unused nudie code.

I realize games will always be too pricey for someone, but it's really not hard to see how a used market develops. High price + limited replay in most instances + hype that usually does not match reality + rapid price drops = incentive to rush through game ASAP and turn it around.
GameStop is not offering anything that people don't want.
Shinjohn, shut up. You love Nintendo games. Nintendo is king of raping the consumer. They fucking released the same god damn console for crying out loud and charged more for it than when it launched 9 years ago. Go on your diatribes with that one. Hypocrite.
I haven't been raped, I only bought 1 ds not 3 different versions of it. My launch Wii is still working just fine, didn't have to buy a new consoles from it dieing every 10 - 12 months. There's nothing hypocritical there, but you have the mind of a 14 year old so I wouldn't expect you to see the difference. Now let's take a look at you. You hate the Wii and yet you spent money on it and owned one for a bit. Don't you have a DS as well? Now that's being a hypocrite.
But go ahead maybe your retort can be to call me some 12 year old style insult that involves nin or wii in there some where. Come on I'm sure if you tried REALLY hard you could even top, wiinies, is that one of the last ones you used.
I mean cause that's what you'll do. You won't actually discuss the issues at hand, like how a lot of the things publishers want to push through do nothing but restrict the rights of the consumer. You won't comment on how every other industry has a used market and survives just fine with it. No you'll just go "BLLAARRGGG YOU LOVE NINTENDO BLLLAAARGGGG 12 YEAR OLD STYLE BULLSHIT BBBLLLAAARRGGG etc etc." I can only hope that maybe Glass Joe or some one else will and a good discussion can actually come out of it, instead of stupid fanboy bullshit from a 12 year old.
So why didn't Nintendo release the Wiimote as a peripheral for the Gamecube? Oh that's right, because they wanted to charge up the ass for it because their last system was a failure. Just like everything else they do. Release an accessory and then do dickshit with each one. E-Reader, Motion Plus, etc etc
And how about those friend codes...why do they rape the consumer on that one? Could it be to protect their image, consumer be damned!? Same shit, different story. How about their ass DRM? Could they put any less effort in that? Where is my flexibility there?
Shit, I'll take used games being inferior to the new copy over any of that hokey bullshit.
This is a retarded argument. You can get used and the code. EA isn't ass-raping anyone. They're being obnoxious, and that's the extent of it.
Also, Joust, go whine about Nintendo in a thread that has anything to do at all with Nintendo. Do you actually have any other conversational topics? Just one would be nice.

Oh I forgot, I thought we were talking about companies 'raping' consumers. I forgot! EA IS RESTRICTING MY RIGHTS WAAA
To do what exactly, I don't know, but it must be true
They didn't release it as a Gamecube add on because by the time it was ready the GC was dead. Not many companies release add ons to dead or near dead systems.
Friend codes are incredibly stupid but they don't make you pay for them, so I'm not sure how that's raping the consumer. It may be inconveniencing them but again they're not making you pay for it. Their DRM is stupid, but so is pretty much every single DRM out there. I think it's pretty obvious if you read this board that I'm not a fan of Digital Distribution, and that means from any one.
I was semi right about what would happen in my last paragraph of my last post. People were trying to discuss EA and the industry at large and you have to come in here going on and on about Nintendo. No one even mentioned them until you showed up. I swear its like Iwata raped your mom and forced you to watch, but I digress.
I don't think it's a retarded argument. They're setting a precedent, that is going to move past paying 10 bucks for the code to unlock multiplayed. If you let it start here its going to move further and further into the game till before you know it you'll have to put in a fucking code to be able to play the game at all when you buy it. Ohh did you buy that used yeah 30 bucks for a new code please.
This is one of those things where people go ohh who gives a shit. Then 5 - 10 years down the line when shit sucks for the consumer everyone goes how did this happen, well here's the start of it.
EA isn't making you pay for anything here either. Not if you buy a new copy. Hey look, guess what I do? Oh and I believe Nintendo didn't release the Wiimote as a GC addon because they wanted you to pay 250 dollars for it, not 50.Quote:

The precedent has been set, they're not setting it. Following through on the precedent already in place, sure, but not starting anything new.
Thing is, this code is a mild inconvenience that's not going to effect used sales at all. It's stupid and obnoxious with no benefit to either the consumer or even EA, but that's it. EA already kills multiplayer after a year, and before the year is up getting a used game with the multiplayer code will be very easy to do.
