If the comic was this bad, I don't think they would've made the show.
I know AMC has been playing budget games with Mad Men so maybe they are doing it with Walking Dead? A bunch of zombies is expensive. Filming a bunch of locations to stay on the move is expensive. They've gotten 3 episodes out of like, four locations. That's cheap.Quote:

They don't need a huge budget to make the comic -- the point isn't even the zombies, it's all about the characters and how they interact (they're just doing a shit job of it in the show) -- I mean it wouldn't cost them a lot to film in the prison and that fucked up town where nasty shit happens... yeah so season 2 has nothing to do with the comic at all... I mean even the characters aren't the same as they were in the book (I.E. Rick was not such a whiney pussy in the comic -- they basically made the friend Rick in the show) ... once the characters get hard and don't give a fuck it gets a lot better but I'm afraid the show isn't gonna get there cause it's dragging really bad. I mean none of this shit matters so far and we're almost on the 4th episode. People giving the show 4 stars mustn't have read the comic -- so far the show is barely 2 stars... Nothing is happening and the dialogue and character development is terrible. They need to get to the prison and Michonne and get this thing back on track...
I have never read the comic and I enjoy the show. It does drag a bit and resolve some of the story lines, but it is still decent.
The comic drops bombs on your ass at a regular pace. The show doesn't even come close.

The bit that I don't get is that there's enough comic that they don't need to drag the pace this badly. They're in no danger of running out of material. I realize the tv show isn't the comic, and shouldn't be due to them being very different media, but there's no excuse for boring. This show desperately needs to find an accelerator and a spine.

Good shows turn bad - it is inevitable. Bad shows, though, almost never turn good.
