A that price, this is almost tempting just to use as an ereader and Netflix-y device.
I have Ice Cream Sandwich running on my gTab right now. It's pretty cool.
Finally got ICS today (leak of an official build, so not to hacky). Samsung and AT&T have done their best to take a giant shit on it so it looks exactly like Gingerbread and still has all the bloatware. This will be remedied soon enough, I suppose. I installed Trebuchet (Cyanogenmod launcher) and other Google and cm9 components to get back a bit of that AOSP feel. I'll work on debloating later.
But holy shit is this thing fast. My phone is vsynced at 60Hz so I can't really get an accurate benchmark, but I pretty much hit a solid 60fps in the ones I've run. Quadrant and GL Bench scores have gone up a good 40-50% and would probably be a lot more if I could take vsync off. ICS is the real deal when it comes to performance.
Can't wait til they build a Cyanogenmod 9 on this kernel.
I'm waiting for the Razr Maxx to get ICS but I'm sure it will be some time since they'll want to add MotoBlur or whatever the crap is called to it. I'm also waiting for my Acer Iconia to get the upgrade, but with how long it took to get 3.1 I won't be holding my breath.
Is that the 7" model? I have the a500... I just wish that there wasn't such a discrepancy on when things came to your device. I like that Android is open, I don't like that companies exploit that.
Because I don't like messing with my phone too much... I don't want to mess something up and then I'm without a phone and have to pony up more money, not under warranty, etc. I know that a lot of the ROMs and stuff can be done relatively easily but I have horrible luck when it comes to doing things like that.
As long as you do a nand backup before you make any big changes, the risk is pretty low. You can always just flash back to stock if you have to.
