I've literally never experienced any of that.
Basically, it has double the resolution of green than it does for blue and red subpixels, but they bill the screen as its green resolution. This means if it says 800x480, it's really more like 400x480, and all the graniness that that implies when you squint at the image. In some of the older screens it also threw off the balance of grays a little bit, although this can be tweaked with apps.
But at 1280x800 on a 4.5 inch screen, you're not seeing subpixels anyway, so people that complain about it are generally blowhards who have never actually looked at one of these screens in person. The Galaxy Nexus' screen is gorgeous and looks just as good as the HTC One X's unless you have a microscope handy. Plus the vibrant color and wide viewing angle of OLED screens can't be beat. That's because you don't have a Galaxy S 1 or similarly old, low-res phone. Which is what diff and stormy are likely basing their opinions on.
It's just inferior technology. I'm glad companies are moving away from that.
A pentile subpixel arrangement is inferior if that's the only thing distinguishing the two devices, but that's not the case here, and when we're talking about very high pixel densities, it's foolish to dismiss Samsung's displays just on those grounds.
The screen in the Galaxy S III is brighter, can produce more vibrant, saturated colors, and at lower power drain. Its worth weighing those advantages over the (in this case) rather invisible concern of what the subpixels look like under a microscope.
An HD screen with a pentile arangement still looks better than the non-HD non-Pentile screen on stormy's current phone. Period.
I've had this Kindle Fire for a few months now. It's amusing every so often and it was fun for a bit after I rooted it, but I rarely use it.
Galaxy S3 is still Pentile? Oh, Samsung.
I think the screen on this (Galaxy Nexus) is Pentile, and I still love it. Very crisp and the black levels are really nice.
I preordered the Evo. All the reviews are really good and I doubt Sprint is going to be offering another competing premium android phone anytime soon (besides the S3 I don't want). LA is getting LTE this year, so the sooner the better!
