Yeah, the plot isn't original. It is kind of a sports movie. And it is a "will overcome" movie. And the background/medium of the story is robots fighting.
The original story was written by the same guy who did I am Legend. I think they made a twilight zone episode out of it too. There were some interesting bits in the old story, like how human fighting was outlawed after some extreme war with a crazy high body count. But grim stuff like that was removed so the story could focus on the characters.
If you liked stuff like Batteries not included, Short Circuit, or astroboy, you'll probably like it. That is the kind of movie it is. Modern day characters around a few bits of slightly amazing technology.
The ads for this movie, and this whole thread about it, all make me laugh so much.
I'm just really disappointed that someone as hot/great as hugh jackman did a rockem sockem robots movie..and yet, that too makes me laugh XD I'd watch this just to fap to him...and laugh at rockem sockem robots XD
Go watch it and let us know how everything works out.
I enjoyed the shit out of this movie. At one point I even teared up a bit... fuck you, don't judge me.
