Game Gear this Thursday? Apparently there will be a special 20 years of Sonic section in eshop, can't imagine them being ambitious enough offer Genny or DS titles.

I was testing my Game Gear to see if it still worked a while back, and although the system is fine, I just can't play on that horrid screen anymore.

Fun fact: I have never owned a Game Gear. It's my portable 3DO in that way. I was all about the Lynx in those days. Ironically, I was all about the Jaguar while missing the 3DO.

You picked the better route, I think. Although the overall library of the GG is better, the Lynx's library is much more unique. You had a Genesis in those days so you already played similar (and usually better) versions of the games.
I do have a fondness for the GG Sonics though. They didn't try to be the Genesis sonics, they did their own thing and it worked.

So I caved and got a 3DS. Got zelda and ridge racer with the Target deal. Got the ds for $60 after using a bunch of game credit.
So far I like it. Ridge racer is really sweet in 3d, I'm impressed with it. The store isnt horrid either. Getting movie trailers in 3d is nice. As of right now, I'm happy with my purchase.

I don't remember the GG having anything of worth aside from SMS ports, Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden, and surprisingly fun ports of Fatal Fury Special and Samurai Shodown.

Yeah, there probably won't be any third party titles since the Game Gear's main support was Tradewest, Acclaim, US Gold, and Virgin. Shame, interested to try the Mega Man or Double Dragon.

Aladdin on the GG was decent - not close to either console version, but a perfectly fine platformer with pretty decent renditions of the movie's music and a really awesome "A Whole New World" sequence.

Sega needs to get with disney and release GG Castle of Illusion. Its probably because I played the GG version first! But I always preferred it over the Genesis version.
For no more than nostalgia reasons, I would love to see Psychic World and Dragon Crystal. They were the first games I had (aside from Columns of course) and though not the greatest, I played the crap out of them. GG Road Rash was really good. Get on it EA!
