The display tech was way ahead of the software fifteen years ago. Nowadays it has caught up, but people have forgotten the tech.
So yeah, that's probably next.

SEGA would have done it by now if they were still around.
I dunno they canceled their prototype and software around the same time everyone else did. And since then (What? 94 or 95 at the latest) VR has been pretty much completely abandoned.
I mean, it's totally good that it was abandoned back then. But they should get back on it.
A graphic upgrade alone can be worth paying $200 or $300 (think PS1 to PS2). But five years worth of tech doesn't pack the same punch these days. When I look at pS3 games and PC games in Edge, I can see a difference but it's more like Genny vs SNES or PS2 vs Xbox than a generational leap. I'd rather wait another five years to pay $500.
Except those screenshots don't show the improvements in physics and AI, or the vast increase in resolution.
So Wal-Mart (of Canada) is advertising 3DS for $199 dollars in a upcoming ad, a front page seller on Ebay offering them for $215 right now as well. Price drop incoming?
That's like $900 USD.
