Wooooooow. I won't even do that...
I have no idea what a plaza ticket is; I suspect I'm better off.
Your virtual milliner is not.
My official verdict on the New 3DS after using it for 15 minutes today.
Yay: Better 3D. Absolutely true. Huge improvement over the original. You don't have to hold your 3DS perfectly still in order to enjoy games in 3D anymore.
Hmm: New shoulder buttons. Nice option, but I think their placement will mean they'll be better serving secondary functions, and not any sort of action-oriented tasks.
Bleh: The C-Stick. Too small, too little movement distance, too touchy unless you (for some reason) loved those stupid nub things on Windows laptops years ago. Tries its best to be a camera control, and it's certainly better than the normal options for games like Monster Hunter, but even then it's not a great camera controller. Can't even imagine even wanting to try playing first-person games using the thing.
The New 3DS c-stick killing off the Circle Pad Pro bums me out more than it should.
What seems strange to me is that most controllers' analog sticks are in the full on position 90% of the time. The IBM pointing nub is probably never at the 100% point. It's use is very different.
This C stick is going to have a lot of resistance getting to that 100%. Shidoshi, can you say if it had a clear edge/side (so you can tell you don't have to apply any more pressure)? Did it require a lot more force to get to a full position?
The 8-4 crew is jerking off over how amazing the New 3DS is and how weird it is that the nub felt amazing to them.
Apparently if you turn your face away from the New 3DS the camera gets confused and breaks the 3D.
I feel like resistance definitely was an issue with the C-Stick. It definitely required more force than the slide pad, and the problem was, due to how small it was, it was easy to then give it too much force in trying to compensate for that resistance.
But, to be fair, I'm sure some people will love it and have no problems—and maybe my mind will change once I've gotten used to it. For now, though, I don't have a huge amount of hope in it being a serious control option for games.
Edit: Yeah, I broke the 3D at one point, but in general playing it was such a huge improvement. And, yeah, there you go—people who disagree with me on the C-Stick. I'll stay skeptical until I've had more time with it.
