I am not defending Mel Gibson. I am saying I understand Whoopi's point. And understand she has had more personal experience socializing and being around Mel Gibson than I. If she says saying a roving pack of niggers doesn't make Mel Gibson racist I completely understand her point. Just like Kramer saying racist shit wasn't inherently racist. He was mad and wanted to lash back at a black guy, and he did it in a really low and unfunny way. But I do not think Kramer himself is racist.Quote:

Racists don't go into a blind rage because of how someone looks, they make broad, ignorant, and incorrect assumptions about somebody until they're confronted with enough evidence to the contrary. And you may be right, you may have never met a real racist. A lot of what passes as racism in the US is really classism or cultureism. A stupid bigot will hate a man for how he behaves and looks. But a racist only needs to hate someone for how they look.

I really don't think the tapes were altered much, if any at all. Mel of course is going to pay millions for "experts" to discover that they were.
