Doctor Who

This season has been awesome. Capaldi killed it, and so did Clara, in fact.

As for this particular ending, I'm a little torn. I will soon watch it again so my thoughts will clarify... Danny as Cyberman is certainly gruesome and horribly sad, and Samuel Anderson absolutely makes a memorable, season long character work in a way that a lesser actor could have completely ruined. And Michelle Gomez is amazing - NEED more of her. (Some real dastardly shit when she kills Osgood.) But at the same time, the Cybermen hardly seem a threat; let alone this cloud-thing that is an oh-so convenient solution to get rid of the cybermen and... actually, I'm not really sure what happened.

But while this one doesn't dish out the carnage (and tears) quite like 'Doomsday', for instance, it's a little more understated, and I think that will bode well for future viewings.

Overall though, GREAT SEASON. Can't wait for... Nick Frost as Santa Claus.

That was a very good Christmas episode.

First year since the return that I forgot all about it. I didn't bother finishing up this season either.

It's there, it'll be there.

I watched some of the Who marathon on BBCA this week, and it was my first time being exposed to Capaldi as the Doctor. Dude is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Better than that annoying shitbag Matt Smith. The pace of the episodes seems to have been slowed down as well, which was one of my main complaints with the Smith era. All frantic energy, no atmosphere. I gave up on Smith pretty quickly, so I don't know if all his episodes were like that, but every time I surfed by BBCA and one was on, they certainly seemed that way. Hell, one time my gf tried getting into a Smith episode and she just came away annoyed. Her main observation about the experience was: "There wasn't one single moment in that episode where there was no music. Not one instant of silence at all." That seems to sum it up for me.

But Capaldi, man...I dig him. Just the right balance of caring and dickness.

And I caught the Christmas episode...it was pretty cool, despite the commercials making look like the most retarded thing ever thank FUCK it turned out that Santa Claus only existed in their shared dreams. And those Half-Life Headcrab rejects were pretty freaky. Overall, it was cool, and it made me want to catch up on the Capaldi season I missed.

Yeah, that's the thing. I dug the Capaldi stuff, I just kind of fell off. Strange.

Well, it was Christmas. I was doing Christmas stuff at the same time. Why, do you mean...he was real? If so that's kinda gay as hell. Are you sure? I don't recall seeing Santa outside of when they were dreaming, unless I missed something.

Well, they don't explicitly say it, but they do drop a pretty big hint A tangerine in the window. Plus the Doctor doesn't know who actually gave him the last chance to wake up.

I did like that they used the idea of Santa to poke at how silly the idea of the doctor is.
