We've been on a houshold MM kick lately, girlfriend's been playing the X series while I go through the XBLA/Legends games.
The Legends is the best.
It DOES look like ctr-alt-del which made the hate twinge in me, but seeing that realistic asian Mega Man helped soothe me.
hmm. when i first looked at this i thought it'd be some lame arcade game collection. what needs to happen is a smash bros style mega man game with bosses and fun stuff. a powered up style game with level editor would be amazing. i don't really like the idea of ryu being in it. he's in everything. i hope morigan doesn't show up. please, jesus.

The thing that saves Ryu in this for me is that he has the SFII crappy voice sample thing going on, which makes it less about Ryu and more about 1991.

Smash Bros is pretty sweet. I'm almost done with MM 10, Wily's castle (pt 3) is really pissing me off though.
The last boss is stupid-easy, standard 'use the worst weapon in the game' rules apply!
I'm on MM7 right now, I think I like it more than 8, and it is For Sure better than Rockman and Forte. I still don't like the design of Mega Man himself very much, but the game is pretty good! (Rush Jet got fucked though, way too long to start up)
Mega Man 9 has me stumped on Wily 3 at the moment, I'm sort of on a holding pattern with that one.
I don't have the drive to beat the Wiley stages on mm9. fuck it.
I'd have had 'em beat if it saved past Stage One. All of 'em in one go is brutal these days.
It's not like I can pause it and leave my xbox on overnight either.

Last Mega Man game I played was 3.
I like Mega Man 5 because it's easy and doesn't piss me off. It's really relaxing and I like to eat many bananas while playing.

Ninja Gaiden 2 took a couple of hours to get to the final boss and it was heart-breaking when he defeated you. I still fucking hate that game.

A worse game is Ninja Crusaders. It was a one-hit kill game and as you get closer to the final boss the bosses just start throwing out TONS of shit.
I remember ghouls and ghosts being difficult. And one of the battletoads.

This looks like they should have put Powered-Up (2!!) on XBLA instead of making up some bullshit new thing that's not as good!

It's clearly going to lean on a level editor with sharing. Powered Up had a lot of awesome stuff in that respect, and it will be much better with the more robust editing options and better structure (not having to download a level to play it, user ratings, search) this will likely bring.
But, yeah, this is ugly. Someone didn't tighten up the graphics on level 3. There's a Rockman version of the trailer floating around too (as well as Bad Box Art Mega Man), and that model looks a bit better at least.

Capcom knows they can make as many Mega Man games as they want regardless of quality and people will buy them. The series has some classics but overall it's way overrated. I was sort of looking forward to Universe because of all the other Capcom stuff in it but I didn't expect it to look that retarded.
People should just buy the Gamecube Megaman collection and then nothing else.

Strider 1 is a true classic, critics DIAF.
Strider 2 is a game that has imperfect design but utterly flawless gameplay.
And I wouldn't recommend the GC Mega Man collection on account of I hate that controller with a burning passion. If the 3DO & Jaguar didn't exist it would be the worst 1st party controller of all time. ALL TIME.
Mega Man 1+2 on VC + classic controller imo.
Strider 2 is not good. It is sad times.
I thought Cheebs would have good taste in action platformers given his Shinobi III love but hating on Strider 1 is a crime.
Strider 2 is awesome. And by Strider 2 I mean Osman/Cannon Dancer. The PS1 game is still good, though, just not up to original Strider's level.
And for series better in 3d than 2d, GTA is the first that comes to mind for me.
