Out of the blue I got an invite to the PC beta for DC Universe Online on the e-mail address I used to use for my alternate Star Wars Galaxies account. I think that shows how random these damn demo selections are, as another e-mail account is the one where I played that game forever and also played EverQuest II briefly. No one ever accused SOE of being brilliant, so I'm not surprised. Anyway, the 13.1GB download is just about complete, so I'll give a whirl this weekend. Anyone else in the beta?

Oh hey, I got an invite too, it was in the junk mail box of the account I used 400 years ago to play EQ on.

All PS+ people got in.
n/m, PC beta. My point still stands so you two can expect one for the PS3 as well.
I searched for this shit twice because I could have sworn there was one.

I searched for DC Universe and found it on the second page.
First page if you limited the search to just Gaming Discussion.

Adding the "Online" must have fucked it up, or I am blind. Either is quite possible.

I will say that our search is really shitty since the last update.
Really shitty.

So this game is very much like PSO. I made 2 guys on the PVP server. Chucker is my batman archetype and Corporate Chucker is my Superman gone wrong villain.

I haven't played this in a while, though I marathoned like fuck when I first got in and got a Batman-esque character to max level and raided once. We did Arkham Asylum, which has three wings, and one each of which is devoted to Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, and Scarecrow. It was pretty fun but ridiculously sloppy compared to something like WoW, it ended up with people just all over the place doing their own thing because it's almost impossible to coordinate. There's no real way to check aggro and healing is a kind of mass AOE because the game is too quick and all over the place to have any kind of precision.
It's a pretty fun game and the licensed aspects give it a better atmosphere than Cryptic's games. I would totally pick this up if no monthly fee was involved but at $15 a month this can blow me (unless a bunch of my friends randomly decide to get this). They should make it F2P and have a cash store instead.
