How does 1999 mode seem as a starting point? Does it seem reasonable to play that mode without beating the game beforehand?

Dunno, but that's what I started on. Enemies do a ton of damage and you really have to scrounge around for stuff. We'll see how far I can get into the game before going apeshit.

This game looks ridiculous, BTW. I probably prefer the original setting just because I like water, but the detail so far is remarkable.

PC. I pre-ordered via Steam and played some of this last night. Graphics settings are on high and I'm running at 1920x1080. Game looks spectacular.

So glad I have the rest of the week off.

Maybe getting it on Xbox when it's $20-30.

Regained my sanity and remembered this will probably be sub $30 in a few weeks.

My NewEgg copy just shipped. At $38, it's still worth it, but damn the wait is painful. It's coming from New Jersey, so hopefully it'll be here Thursday, but I never get UPS deliveries until the late afternoon. :cry:
