Yeah, after finishing Infinite I decided it was high time I pull out that copy of 2 I got for $5 with a coupon from Best Buy several months ago and play it. In very short order I was like, oh yeah, this is what combat in a Bioshock game is supposed to be. Infinite suffers immensely from the lack of hacking (granted you have the possession vigor, but there's both no risk involved and way fewer opportunity to use it), special ammo, and telekinesis (and movable objects to use it on), as well as the drastically more limited availability/stockpile-ability of salts as compared to eve. (On the flipside I'm only a couple hours in and I can already sense Levine's absence in the way less interesting characters and story.)
Oh man, no special ammo, right.
Wow.
My expectations were low; I was just looking for another Bioshock.
The actual story is very backloaded into the last hour or two of the game, which really blows.
mzo sounds like me when I first played Bioshock 1.
Same.
Yeah, when I typed that up I was only thinking of turrets and the like. It somehow slipped my memory that you can upgrade Possession to hit humans, even though I did it and spammed the hell out of it from then on.
And to add to my earlier point: found the research camera, yet another great element in 1 and 2 that Infinite drops without satisfactorily making up for.
The Final Bosman on GT.
I like this guy.
He does good work.
