Just because two things seem similar doesn't mean they are. Also, to repeat, I said rap is an act, and hip-hop is a culture. These are two different things, and I'm drawing a distinction between the two. I'm not being difficult, I'm explaining the difference.

Rap = I am rapping
Hip-hop = the clothes, the type of DJing, the graffiti, the lifestyle (!), etc.

ICP raps (very badly and blandly) but they're part of the horrorcore culture, not the hip-hop culture. The clothes they wear, their lifestyle, and their attitude are very different. The complete opposite actually. You're being myopic and condescending because it's not a genre you care about.

Your argument is like saying Ben Folds is part of the same musical culture as a pianist who plays Beethoven and Bach simply because they use the piano.

Again, if you start a thread asking for classification of cultures and sub-cultures, be prepared to receive answers about cultures and sub-cultures. Otherwise, make a blog post and close the comment section.

The problem with them is they always whore themselves out for blatant shock value. The act of trying to offend everyone is in itself inoffensive to me.

Someone like Jeremy is probably more counter-culture than anybody because he doesn't readily fit in to a group. He is unique - he tries things and does what best suits him. He'll even try stuff like working for the man. Wasn't for him, but he didn't look down on anybody he worked for who liked doing it or stuck with it. Everyone here should do the same thing if they aren't already. Josh and Yellerdog and Finch (maybe) could both probably fit in to that. At a glance I would say icarusfall could be, too. But the more you read in to his schtick the more you realize he's just a bleeding heart alarmist for the anti-establishment crowd.
