The reason I say it's such a NYC phenomenon is because in Williamsburg and the Lower East Side, you can really see hipster civilization. It's not just individuals, there are dozens of shitty music venues literally hidden from view in old bodegas and warehouses with no signage that would indicate that there's even a club there, precisely because said venue is afraid that notoriety will make their venue "uncool" to hang out in. This is hipsterism run rampant. I don't see that kind of shit in Jersey, Philly, LA, or anywhere outside of New York.

I knew a hipster girl who wore a cape. A fucking cape. Not like a superhero cape either, like a 19th century cape from back when people wore capes.

There's not really a uniform, it's kind of a thought process.

I feel like the NYC-specific people that Frog is talking about are just called faggots nowadays, and that everywhere else Hipster means poor weirdo kids that probably have a useless college degree and are into everything that the "hipsters" frog is talking about but just aren't nearly as faggoty about it.

If you met a hipster from NYC, you'll understand why they're so hated. If you're not a part of their "scene" you will catch some shit for it. There have been a few articles written about them in most NY magazines and why they're killing culture.
