World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

Well, since our forums are kind of dead. I have taken the liberty after speaking to a bunch of people to make this thread: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1658707064

I went through everyone in the guild in guild chat tonight, and I pretty much figured that the only decent + reliable people at the moment for raiding would be:

Qotsa (Tank)
Gilme (Tank)
Tockaray (Healer)
Arteq (Healer)
Vertebra (DPS)
Vlos/Selkis (DPS)
Lucent (DPS)
Kaku (DPS)

Artec is a healer now. Rack is completely missing (I guess only four days, lol). Dave, Kevin, and Ofecks seem casual? I am exactly the same as always, reliable for limited days. Leaving us short a healer that can dps when only two healers are needed and one ranged dps. Mzo seems pretty casual at the moment, but I know this would be perfect for his past want/frustration in a core reliable 10 man of people he likes. Caduceus?

It would be cool if nobody got butt hurt about this and realise that a)your spots aren't taken... yet, it's VERY fucking early, this thread was just made for the current hardcore people, and we really don't know who actually can turn up to raids; and b)we still have a lot of people, and we have enough for another good group. i.e.

Rawrvine (Tank/Healer)
Mzo/Coruman (Tank)
Eadgils (Healer)
Sallyshears (Healer)
Misteeq (Healer)
Chucker (DPS)
Rambown (DPS)
Kyosalad (DPS)
Dahvae (DPS)
Ofecks (DPS)
Arjue? (DPS)

And we should/can probably field people in one group into the other for composition. I just think it's in our guild's best interest that we make sure we're fielding one hardcore group of people that can reliably play enough to progress well. Which doesn't include most of us currently... lol.

We also need to fix our ranks a little, I propose:
Asshole : No Gchat speak, punishment rank.
Red Shirt: +Ghat Speak
Member: Same as red shirt, but for casuals that have been in the guild forever.
Raider: +repair, but not gold withdraw? + bank pot tab withdraw
Officer: +ochat & gold/bank withdraw
GM: Mzo :)

I really think we need to discuss this shit, and get organised, because thanks to 10 mans being worthwhile, this is our chance to do really well.

I've been around quite a bit, but I'm hampered by Mountain Time.

I will make it to every wednesday/thursday raid. mondays are questionable as always because fuck this game.

Use bartender to have multiple bars on screen at once and wherever you like. It also lets you key bind ridiculously easy, and you should. Clicking is for bad people. Use 1-5, q, e, r, f, extra mouse buttons, etc. It's ok to click buffs or anything you only do every 30 minutes or so.

The default Blizzard UI lets you have like 5 or 6 bars on screen at once too. Warlocks have way too many fucking spells btw

The keys above the spacebar are also really good, CVB for most people without monkey paws.

I've never actually used those (not that I ever really needed them before LOLHUNTERS) but good call! Those are way better than the function keys.

The extra buttons on my MX518 are a godsend now that I can actually interrupt/silence motherfuckers.

I'm not casual. And I don't see why you are emphasizing a 'supergroup' again for this expac when we have the people for two groups that can progress just the same. Also I have half a heroic heal set now and that will most likely be my dual spec.
And I feel like that list is missing a lot of people that go 'casual' because they are never invited. And it would help if people ran more instances with the fresh 85s to gear them up more. Mist for one needs help, and keya I'm not sure about his schedule but I think he would play more if we helped gear him, and especially chucker because ret is disgustingly gear dependant right now.
And if starting a second group is really that difficult due to lack of tanks(coughMZOcough) or w/e, perhaps we should start recruiting some

I've been casual lately because of holiday crap and other distractions. To be perfectly honest, I am not exactly thrilled about weeknight raiding due to my sometimes unpredictable work hours, but I will try to be around. Friday/Saturday nights are always good for me.

My gear sucks at the moment but I'll try to make a point to do at least one heroic per evening, preferrably with RF, but I'll pug it if I have to.

Did I say you were casual? Agree on all parts. Once we see what the groups will be, and who is reliable, we can (coughMzocough) make another post?

Just grab me if you need me for stuff I guess. I won't make a big deal but i'll try to have decent gears. I'm fine with just sitting back and counting my mounds of cash instead of raiding.

Man these new quests are so well put together. I remember trying to kill that Vancleefe fag for hours will TNLers back when wow first hit. REdridge looks equally as fun with the dragon. Not sure if I'll ever care about end game though. But this is going to take up as much of my holiday downtime as I can play.

If you mean run regulars with them, I`m always willing to run one or two, but it really is stupid easy to get geared enough to queue for heroics, all you have to do is finish all the Twilight Highlands quests chains and you`re pretty much set, so there`s really no need for us to run them repeatedly through regulars to get them geared for heroics. Running heroics, sure I`m almost always up for that.

Drew, just a couple of quick notes on your recruitment post. You asked for ilevel >245, which I think you meant to be 346. Also, both of those positions are filled by Aquilae and Hizzacked. They want to raid and they are good from what I've seen playing with them. They've brought the post up to me and wanted to know WSUP?

Regulars yes, but I mainly meant heroics; no one was running any with me for the longest time(and yes I asked), I don't think mist has gotten very many, keya will need them soon and of course all the late levelers that are currently more busy with holiday shit are gonna need help. (If nothing else, 1 or 2 regs will still net you guild rep and some JP on your first random reg, so you help yourself too ;p)
I would like to mention josh has been helpful with his limited time, and drew/chris are extremely helpful and nice for doing a few regs, keya is almost heroics worthy now ;] and this has made me very happy in the pants
But for the most part, the attitude of this guild since cata has been selfish and unhelpful and mirroring too much of the bad shit from the last expac that always pissed everyone off that were never taken to the only raid of the week. We need to focus less on achievement runs and supergroups while most of the guild is barely raid worthy, and more on getting people geared to raid.
I would say we need to possibly focus on recruiting for another raid group too, but I think we should wait until after the holidays, obviously drew missed a lot of people in his list because they are only casual for this reason and we'll have a better grasp on group make-ups afterwards, what we are lacking, and peoples schedules from that point on, but I do think he is right on track for wanting to get some organization started(coughdoingmzosjobforhimcough)

Kyo, we're not focusing on the "super group". Our guild is just fucking diverse, and I was just making sure that people that are "hardcore", had a group to play with. We need to balance a second group too, and possibly a third weekend group?

Getting IRQL bluescreen, wonderful. Dunno if I'll have a computer available for use on Monday.

Working on fixing it, memtest didn't pick anything up and I haven't gotten any new drivers. Running a good old fashioned safe mode virus scan, maybe I'll get lucky and it'll be that simple.

Yes please, on the latter. Giving it some more thought, I think I'm done with hardcore weeknight raiding. When I get home from work I like to relax, fix dinner, take a shower, read some forums, etc. There simply is no time for all of that if I'm glued to WoW from 6:30 - 11 or 12. Not to mention I am chronically tardy to work so I've been trying to get to bed earlier lately. I got used to this during RF's 2010 absence, and I've come to really enjoy it. Now that's not to say I'll never be around for weeknight raid assistance, but please don't count on me to show up anymore.

If RF can't seem to field a weekend group, I'll just find a spot in an ongoing pug like I did with ICC. Tofu may or may not be fielding one this expansion.

If we don't have a weekend group and you do find out of an ongoing pug let me know, I'll join in as well.

I'm like 50/50 going to that North base and finding everyone dead with an 85 camping in the skies on a mount only to descend doom upon me. But it's alright - I've managed to soulstone my way out of a few situations. Can't wait to get to the southern port town now, though. Getting tired of hunting in the forest. The earlier quests of Westfall and Redridge were far superior to that of Duskwood and Strangethorn. Keeshan's gang of thugs was killer.

lol monday raids

What was the comp, both for drakes and the raid? All I can see from the armory is Hizzacked and Sam.

Magmaw down too. That makes two in a night. Not bad, especially since we did all the shitty learning is done and we'll kill them first thing on Wednesday.

Damn Hizzacked is getting all the gears.

Healers were Drew, myself, and Aquilae
Tanks were Qot & Gilme
DPS was Selkis, hizzacked, kaku, dave, and lucent

Drake setup was Nether Scion, Slate Drake, and whelps. We killed the nether scion then the whelps; left slate drake alone. Was pretty easy once we did this.

Whelps dying was the key, actually. It made the AOE almost a joke.

Only one melee DPS? No wonder you killed Magmaw too, how fast did the parasites die?

Parasites have a dickton of health. Gilme kited them around while me, Lucent, Hizzacked and Sam all AOE'd nonstop. Probably took like 15 seconds each spawn.

Did you ever notice how baldheads suck?

Too much health to be slowed and aoed down?

They probably require that melee dps come off of the boss and help AOE them no matter what at current gear levels. Most of the damage is done to the boss during the burn phases anyway

dave is ok: I've currently spec'd my Warlock for Destruction. I've found it quite useful/powerful. I've only been in two PVP fights and won both of them (who weren't level 85) - but I'm told now that Affliction is probably the way to go because of all the cooldown reductions and increase DOT benefits you get. Since you're the oldest Warlock I know playing I wanted to get your recommendations.

I'm pretty out of the loop right now. I was just reading ElitistJerks today to try and find a good raiding spec. I haven't played Affliction at all since 4.0 but Rack seems to like it. Right now, I have a Demo PVE spec and a 3/7/31 Destro one.

Should be back on tomorrow, ready to raid.

For now I'm going to use my second as an affliction / demo spec and my main as affliction / destro. So far I haven't had any PVE issues whatsoever without affliction (not enough points spent to access the other tree's). I'm going to roll a paladin sometime on SH once I exhaust this server with Jonas.

It's true. We'd murder for a priest or druid though.

Aside from priests I don't think we lack any class, but I don't think he gives a shit about raiding anyway. We are definitely loaded up on pallies, pink everywhere.

Atramedes requires that every raid member know not how to be a fucking retard. Banging the gong for one person is the same as banging it for all ten.

Yeah I didn't know what was happening there for a while, until Lucent said he'd been having lag problems all night. It's really simple when we know the cooldowns. For the breath, the target simply takes him right and the rest go left. For the air phase, we disperse IMMEDIATELY to avoid anyone laser targeted from generating sound on anyone else. Ringing gongs should only happen two times: for searing breath and by Vlos in the beginning of the air phase so he can be targeted by the laser.

My only copy of the game is on an old windows laptop at some 3.whatever version.
I'd want to play it on one of my macs.
I don't want to download 16gb for what will probably amount to a few hours of play time.
I don't have discs.

I think I should just give up.

Dave: I found affliction enjoyable and it had a rather simplistic rotation (/lazy) compared to destro (though I found demo fun as well). The last time I checked ELJ Affliction and Destro were pretty close to each other dps-wise.

Sorry about vanishing, the holidays were pretty time consuming and I got really sick the day after Christmas which I'm still recovering from. I should be on tonight after work.

After seeing a warlock in a battleground do insane things with drain spec, I kind of want to stack a fuckton of mastery and try it for PvP

Apparently Blizz is considering taking drain mana away from us too because it is crazy in pvp.

It's the main way I kill people in PVP zones so far. Fear, Curse, Immolate and Drain mana w/ pet attacking

I don't remember where we were. I just remember Leeroy Jenkinsing as my warrior dwarf a bunch of things that were way too high level and someone having to save us. I played with Trialsword as my Tauren warrior in the demo. He was some kind of undead guy (I think a mage).

I haven't been on much lately but I'm hoping to rectify that soon.

I think part of the reason is that I'm kind of torn about what I want to be.

I can run as Shadow so I can actually have fun. Or, I can accept that Shadow is always going to be a fairly mediocre DPS spec, and instead make myself useful by healing, but being a healing priest in the current environment will be very stressful for someone without a lot of endgame experience.

Those days are gone.

Shadow is still a really viable and versatile spec and every raid should have someone playing it, that being said it sounds like it's even harder to be good at in the expansion.

I have yet to play with a good Shadow priest or Boomkin.

Like 5 of the 9 world first heroic kills so far had 3 boomkins.

I don't know what the deal is with that.
