Yes, they did it on purpose to stick it to you.
Finished Halloween with 29/30 btw. Fucking stupid achievement
To be honest, all of the Season 9 gear looks pretty ok. Just ok though. I wonder if they'll do it how they did for WOTLK where it gradually got more awesome.
But people will always try to find a way to feel persecuted by Blizzard. The hunter gear is fucking Shredder!
I can't find the Tier 11 Models but I remember being a bit torn on them.
Mage and Priest armor is completely inappropriate, they wear cloth, not leather. Warrior, Shaman and Hunter looks like they have an idea that will progress into something cool like WoTLK seasons, but the first set is so fucking boring.
Warlocks get way fucked, what is that color pattern about?
Holy shit. What. The fuck. The priest one is awesome looking.
It doesn't even look like cloth.
I can understand being a little irritated about the texture and the way it's done, but to say it's a fuck you to your class from Blizzard and all they love is DKs is fucking hilarious.
Making priests look like rogues is not doing them any favors imo.
Deathknights have universally cool gear it seems, all of it incorporating skulls and shit which seems proper. Priests, rogues and pallys don't look terrible, but if you think they are as cool and proper as the DK set you're nuts.
DK PvP gear looks straight goofy, in my opinion.
I think it's weird that most of the sets are just universally panned as being shit. Who is creating, approving, and then releasing such embarrasing shit over at Bliz?
Clearly Blizzard feels that PVP is crap and you should all look like clowns.
Cataclysm intro events have started, for those of you who don't log in much/ever.
Well blizzard has stopped me from going to a midnight launch.
No matter when you have the game, Cat doesn't go live til Midnight PST.
Fuck.
God damnit, I'm pissed because I just so happen to not have a class until 2pm the day Cata comes out. I was kind of looking forward to playing it until 4am or so.
Fuck that shit anyway, I'm getting the digital download. It'll automatically work at midnight, be pre-installed, and I never have to go anywhere to pick it up.
[edit] Missed the PST part. Still don't care, I didn't get my copy of wotlk until like three days after launch since I ordered it from Amazon.
I love how they think they'll be able the ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD logging on at midnight PST, even though when it was staggered they still crashed.
They've had maintenance weekly for over five years and even after more than 1,780 times they still haven't learned their lesson.
They never will, it's time to accept that.
I think I'll just order a hard copy from Amazon with release date delivery and play it whenever it comes on tuesday.
Or Thursday, when the servers finally recover.
From what I remember the midnight launch of WotLK went very smoothly actually. The opening raid weeks were a little crazy because of the insane amount of raid instances open at once but the world servers didn't really ever crash.
BC launched well and so did WOTLK I would be surprised if it didn't work well. Also being Mountain time means I can get on at 1 o'clock! sounds good to me. Also should mean shit isn't toooo jam packed. It's probably for the best. I'm a little annoyed and tempted to still go to a midnight launch just because it's kinda fun and I'll be up anyways. But whatever.
I'll probably go at midnight and collect my CE lest some jackass from the store decides it's his to take.
There's really nothing in this CE I want so fuck that.
I'll still go to wait in line before midnight because I'll probably see a bunch of people I know there.
Dirge's recipe is mine. I also polished up the other shit for Salty and now only need one daily and the fishing tournament. Makes me wish Cata released on the weekend so that I could get an easy win, like when everyone was leveling for Wrath and I went back to farm Netherwing eggs with no competition.
Hah I read that wrong at first, I thought you were saying that Ulduar was the worst instance.
Yeah Ulduar really fucked up a lot of shit instance wise.
Ulduar was probably the best instance of the expansion.
It was undoubtedly the best. I like hard modes contextual to the encounter, not flipping a switch and magically everything is harder. Too bad things are going to pretty much be like ICC from now on.
I don't *really* care about shared loot, to be honest guilds that have always run 25 will continue to run it 25. 10 mans just aren't marginalized anymore. At first I liked being able to go to ToC and ICC twice a week but I got real sick of it real fast, especially since ICC was all we had for nigh on a year.
To play devils advocate: removing additional lock outs won't make things any less boring if content doesn't come out quicker. For the last six months I played only heroic 25 ICC meant anything, so even if I couldn't have been allowed to do ICC 10 it wouldn't have matter because I never did it anyway.
The way I look at it if you give everyone a Blue Ribbon then it loses it's value. I don't like my multiplayer games to be like the special Olympics, if I'm better I want something to show for it and Cataclysm shrinks the gap between exceptional players and average players even more than WoTLK did. I remember a while back someone said I never would have survived Vanilla raiding (this is WAY before I reached my potential so evidence probably backed it up) but I honestly think I would have thrived there since people a tier back REALLY were a tier back. No badge gear, no bullshit. You finished T3 and people knew you were the real deal.
I remember us spending like an hour trying to figure if we had activated Flame Leviathan's hard or regular mode the first time we went in there and some random person talked to one of NPCs. Most of the hard mode triggers weren't very clear without either reading up on the encounter or playing it a few times, not that such a thing is bad, per se, but the very clear switch is a lot nicer for accommodating everyone. Ulduar was definitely the best designed instance of WOTLK, possibly of the whole game (even if it did once again have an unkillable boss at launch).
WOTLK was also their first time giving the ability to account for both casuals and hardcore players at the same time, so the fights in Cata should be a lot better designed in both respects. This is the first MMO that has a difficulty selector, so I give them a little leeway in figuring out how to make it work best for them and the players.
if it means anything, you won't see a single epic until you've killed a raid boss. No craftable epics and no 5 man boss epics at all. The only time you'll see it is when Justice Points can buy old raid gear when 4.1 comes out whenever.
The thing is they'll just do the same shit they did this expansion. You can get pieces of T10 251 without having ever killed a boss in ICC, and that's just silly if you really think about it.
Edit: I suppose it's not fair to say that's the only reason I quit. There's also the strict scheduling if you want to raid with a consistent and capable group and I just didn't want to commit myself to that anymore. I suppose those two issues kind of go together though: I didn't want to bust my ass in a server first guild when server 100th is going to be in stupid similar gear but at the same time I have no desire to play in a casual guild, not anymore.
Not it's not. They did the same thing in BC, this is not new(s). Yes, eventually when shit gear means alts and/or new people would not be able to do anything because hardly anyone is running older content, they give ways for people to catch up. This is not a bad thing for anyone unless you just want to be elitist.
I wouldn't have gotten to raid at all in BC if they hadn't done that, I had quit in vanilla and came back mid-expansion. Everyone was like 2-3 tiers in, and you're not going to have an entire guild farm old raids over and over and over to try and get specific drops for one new person. That's what's actually just silly if you really think about it.
In BC you could get gear of similar level, but you couldn't get a 4pc T6 Bonus unless you actually killed bosses in Black Temple and Hyjal. I would say that what BC did was dwarfed by what WoTLK did in terms of being gear friendly to new toons.
I do agree though, from a business standpoint it's smart to make the game accessible. They are doing the right thing by making millions of people want to play at the expense of me not caring anymore.
Ugh, I wonder if we'll even be able to schedule 10 mans with consistency. I've been way busier than I was last year, and I know we've all found other shit to occupy our time in the months between us halting raiding and cata coming out.
LIKE A BABY
I love it every time you say something like this, since you joined during the expansion designed to make the game more accessible. We get it, you've supposedly moved on, but why in the world you keep complaining that they're trying to make it easy for everyone to start on roughly the same playing field while increasing the required amount of skill to kill stuff (on hard modes, anyway) is something I don't get.Quote:

I'm sorry, Dave was doing all the work with his magical dragon mind-controlling, and then he did the same to me with his voice. It was so dreamy and entrancing...
So to sum this last page up, Opaque just REALLY badly wants to have a huge epenis to show off and when other people can get that big epenis as well it makes him all butthurt.
Who gives a fuck, it should be about seeing and enjoying the content, not your e-barbie clothes.
Whatever you guys gotta do.
Yes as a player base, we have grown and gone past many of the old raid mechanics that are now easy and relegated to 5 man strats, but let's stop for a second and pay homage to possibly the most ridiculous (and I do mean just ridiculous, not a synonym for hard or awesome) fight in the game to date: Razorgore.
Remember kiting? It's sort of a lost art in raid encounters. Not just because it took skilled players but because doing it was actually sometimes just shitty because of the game engine. LOS problems, mysterious aggro mechanics, pathing issues and wonky level geometry sometimes made it not a matter of skill but luck. Razorgore took kiting and transformed it into a goddamned forensic science. By the end of phase 1 you had a literal carousel of mobs circling the room, as if they were waiting on line for something at Blizzcon, while someone MCd the boss to kill eggs. I don't think we'll ever see a fight like that again.
Razorgore would be a completely different fight nowaday. They'd use the vehicle UI to control him and remove the stupid orb
5mans of an expansion are training wheels for the appropriate raids. I like how they took that concept even further in WOTLK and added new 5mans just to train people as new raids came out (yes, they did for Sunwell too, but it wasn't as much).I would love running General Drakk where the hunter would screw up kiting and/or die, and all of a sudden Drakk would show back up in the raid and wipe everyone. This usually happened with no warning because the hunter wouldn't say anything.Quote:

Then half the people would drop group because they didn't want to try and find their way back. Oh vanilla, you are full of hilarious memories but I don't miss you.
Also: BWL, MC tonight anyone? Maybe a quick Ony10? After those and Weavil I'm all done with the three scepter shard chains.
I'll help with whatever
Yeah I guess I can help a buddy out (YES).
I think I need to kill that Weevil guy.
I'm in, my druid needs old tier gear.
Tonight might be Batman '89 Movie Night though!
There is no MIGHT. It IS.

I danced with the devil in the pale moonlight
Drak & Razorgore was nothing compared to Hyjal kiting. You (non-hunter) faggots have no idea.
I remember when a hunter talked to Jaina. Argument invalid.
That faggot never kited shit.
Neither did Myk. I retract that spoiler. Everyone that isn't me is a faggot.
Shit, remember when it was Sorein's responsibility to drag Thrall to the fight? LOLZ.
Oh god, I remember Rahmbo being the KING of kiting. he had that shit on LOCKDOWN.
But yeah, faggots dont know 'bout talkin' to jaina.
Fuck hunters. YEAH I SAID IT.
You weren't saying that when I was bringing a group of floor-pounding crazy Taurens to the group on every single Hyjal pull. Just sayin'.
The best was when the Hyjal mobs would teleport to Rahmbo and kill him and then we could yell at him for being such a shit kiter.
And then we'd all die because Mzo forgot Righteous Fury again
Guys, as long as we're making fun of hunters who aren't here, let's discuss Fyrehunter's inability to grasp ghost killing at Gorefiend.
Also, I'd do it again, given the chance.
Remember when Fyrehunter asked who dropped the bow and then Baqkhami raped all those little kids?
Good times, man.
We're running out of RF tropes, someone get Sam Margera and sharks out of the way so we don't have to mention it again.
I have to wait until Sam's movie moves to the cheap theaters around here so I can see him and Keith running around with their pack of friends engaging in hilarious shenanigans. I heard they filmed a bit with a shark, I hope he didn't wet himself during.
Tim said on facebook he wanted to write in Richard K Vaelstrasz esq on his ballot for voting.
Wait, I was on the phone, whats going on?
I would vote for Richard K. Vaelstrasz ESQ if I were a silly american.
I'd vote him into the Oppression Room for some Slow James.
I really should have, since the dude I voted for didn't win.
I'm down for oldschool raids tonight (even specced Frost the other day in preparation).
When is the official release date of Cata? I need to get back into the game before it's released...
Dec. 7
All of the pre-Cata events have started. Renew you faggot
Ugh, but I'm enjoying my free time... But the game is calling...
Dave: 9170, I have matched Sam and will soon overtake him. You need to get ahead of him too.
[edit] 9180 I cannot be stopped
I don't want to figure out a spec and how to play all over again.
I hate paladins.
Just pick shit how you want and don't worry about min/max until a million crazy people are maxed out and have posted in a thread on elitist jerks with super specific details on everything (which probably has already happened via beta raid testing crazies)
I'm using the Naga mouse but I don't want to use their action bars. Anyone know of an addon out there that lets you reorganize the numbers on whatever action bars you're using? Like instead of 1-10, have 3,6,9,2,5,8,1,4,etc
Bartender 4 let's you assign any key or combination thereof within 2 clicks of opening it's option menu.
Oh god... addons, I need to re-do my whole UI... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
OH DEAR LORD I NEVER DOWNLOADED THE PATCH FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF 5GB GOGOGOGO
I need to redo my UI completely for cata, but I don't wanna sit down and do it. It's gonna be a giant waste of 2 hours.
Even then min/maxing with talents won't be a huge deal, since they make so much more sense along with so much less bullshit going on in the background that the game doesn't tell you. It's almost entirely just using common sense to pick talents now, with the focus on being a good player.I downloaded a pre-made pack from wowinterface and didn't bother with other shit. Currently using this one, though it comes bundled with Skada which I need to replace with Recount.
Redo interface? you didn't save anything as a profile? Every addon i had was saved with a profile. they broke. i downloaded the updated. didn't have to change shit.
I think most of us haven't even had the game installed since march.
New xpac and class overhaul means spring cleaning on the UI for me. I'm using a fan updated version of SpartanUI and other staples (seriously, titanbar should have been implemented by Blizzard years ago) like recount and Satrinas Buff Bars. They all fit snugly in the SpartanUI art panel. Sexymap has a little sunburst animation going in the little circle that SUI has for it.
I still have my profile in my computer but like Trial said, new Xpac means spring cleaning for all my addons, also WoW supposedly has a bunch of new shit implemented... So I'm gonna have to scour the intertubes looking for new addons and what not.
BTW, thinking of resubbing next week. So be ready to re-invite Stabarnak.
Oh yeah. the new resource UI like holy power and soul shards. And the wonderful built in PowerAuras/Spell flash. Only bad thing about the blizz PA is that if its macro'd like most of my stuff is it doesn't flash. But you still get the PA proc graphic on your screen. very handy. Curse, wowmatrix, and wowinterface are where i go for my addons.
Yeah, been using curse, wowmatrix and wowinterface for the last few years. Getting the addons is the easy part, it's configuring everything that's a pain.
Stabarnak for RF main tank lolz
I use one addon. MOTY
HEY I DIDN'T POST THAT.Quote:

So fucked. Chris you showing up to PAX again?
That's the plan. It's going to once again come down to plane ticket money but I'm pretty sure I have that, and I might even have other non-RF houses to stay at too. Speaking of, I should probably buy PAX tickets before they're gone.
