i'll rejoin this weekend. pls re-invite Keya.
I'm back on the server, please invite Ravenor.
What ui mod do you guys use? Im currently using Pitbull 4 and was wondering about tidy plates. Just need a change of scenery.
I'm looking for a good nameplate myself. I've heard good things about Shadowed Unit Frames, will probably go with that.
http://media.curse.com/Curse.Project...75/example.png
I'm also looking for a good way to manage my DoTs and other stuff (Shadow Priest). Any suggestions?
I use needtoknow for any DOTs or timers I have to watch. Easy to use, easy to keep track of, easy to setup.
My prebuilt config that I linked earlier is using Pitbull which I'm always a fan of, though anything with oUF is fantastic since it runs so good and uses almost no resources at the cost of easy configuration. Tons of pre-built layouts already made to pick from if you don't want to dick around with coding.
Thanks, I'll check those out.
One more thing, about healing this time. I'm trying to figure out the quickest/most efficient way to stay on top of healing/curing disease/etc in groups and raids.
Currently I'm using the Naga mouse. My plan is to get one of those addons like Vuhdo or Grid+Clique, and set it to mouseover so I can just hover over the player's name and press the corresponding button on the mouse's number pad for the spell I want to cast. Is this more or less the quickest/most efficient way to do things or do I have options for streamlining it further?
/macro
Create new macro
/cast [target=mouseover,exists]Flash Heal
/cast Flash Heal
I think that's the right command (it will cast the spell on whatever your mouse is hovering over, and if there's nothing it will cast it on yourself). Google mouseover macros if that doesn't work, but either way you don't need to install shit.
So does that change anything other than no longer needing Clique for raid frames that don't have mouseover built in?
If you have raid frames enabled you can use that macro to apply heals/shields/dispels on the bars. I had PW Shield macrod to ~ as a mouseover for my entire end game career and it saved many, many kills.
Also a good tip: make a macro that uses a health stone then shields yourself. Get used to using the shield command to shield yourself and you'll do it off instinct when shit hits the fan during boss fights, but with the added bonus of using the health stone as well.
Yeah I'm hearing good things about the built-in raid frames on another forum. I guess if their ability to show dispellable debuffs is clear enough for me, then i can just use those and replace my spells with mouseover macros and call it a day.
I'm probably going to accidentally heal myself A LOT before I get the hang of this.
Here's my UI. Tooltips appear on the bottom right just above the Spartan panel and the Titan Bar on the top of the screen auto-hides when it's not moused over. target Unit Frames appear on the right side of where my player frames are, on the other side of the minimap. Button placement definitely not finalized yet, just enough to be functional in quests and raids.
My bags are handled by OneBag, and I have Carbonite for maps/quests/gathering. Mik's Scrolling Combat text takes care of skill notifications, status events, damage taken and healing taken.
The only addon I'm going to need in the near future is something to let me know if/when serpent sting has fallen off the target. Also, right clicking buffs still doesn't work with Satrina's Buff Bars. All my buffs and debuffs appear in the bottom left part of the Spartan Panel. Probably going to have to find a solution for seeing target Debuffs better.
That's cool, I wish I could use my Naga/Dominos setup with SpartanUI.
Don't see why you couldn't. SpartanUI uses Bartender 4 for its button size and placement. You can easily do some keybinds for the mouse macro buttons, unless I'm missing something.
Fucking Syntaxmonster
This is what im using right now. a piecemeal of addons that work for me. Couldnt find anything to flat out replace it so im jsut going to stick with it. i use this setup for all my toons.
I'm probably going to run with 2 add-ons. I don't like using shit like Clique and the new raid UI is essentially grid. I'm thinking of redoing my binds, currently I use 1,2,3,4,Q,E,C,V,B,R,F,G and mouse up and mouse down as my main ones. Tilde used to be good for dispells since you could hit Tab and it simultaneously with one finger, but that's unspamable now.
C has always been my cleanse, MOTY on Gehenes. Fuck those scrubs that used decursive.
Well, you couldn't of played a shadowpriest for like 90% of vanilla. Offspecs were not viable or supported in raiding.
One person on Shattered Hand had full Tier 3. The only reason she got it is that she would send pictures of her round vagina to officers.
Raiding required far less skill, look at it this way, the hardest encounter in vanilla was killed by a spreadsheet and 8 warriors having 4 set.
round vagina
I am curious to witness a round vagina.
A grapefruit with one segment removed
I don't like grapefruits.
Don't forget to mention that Shattered Hand at that time had one of the best guilds in the world on it.
Vanilla sucked, the only reason it was harder was A) Because there weren't common sense tools to deal with them (Garr in which you just had to spend a long period of time making sure every tank had their target) and B) Because there was no theory crafting or numbers. You go back to Vanilla and theorycraft this stuff I bet everyone's DPS goes up a bit and things are easier. The mechanics themselves generally were not that difficult as the morons who like to spout how great vanilla was say.
I frequent mmo-champ and its amazing how many people scream from the mountain top how much better vanilla wow was. Half the comments are agreeing and half are saying they are dumb as fuck cus vanilla was a chore and a grind. Those threads are always interesting though.
Also: http://wowvault.ign.com/View.php?vie...d=12&build=1.3
Talents were so hilarious. I was trying to find the launch trees (I've found them before but can't recall where), but 1.3 is still pretty good. Everything paladin is great and the hunter survival tree is a classic.
Wow, I remember that survival tree. 5 points incresing melee hit. Also melee damage lawwwl. The top tier talent was a melee attack also.
"I know, I'll buy some heirlooms to have ready for my Worgen!"
*checks heirloom vendor*
FUCK
This man has the right idea. Blizzard's built-in UI has pretty much everything you need now. I use the following:
- _NPCScan/_NPCScanOverlay: One more mob to go for Frostbitten thanks to this baby. Although with Dave's help, we both got Bloody Rare using only a targeting macro.
- Bagnon: probably a bit bloatier than Kaku's OneBag, since it tracks ALL characters' inventories.
- DBM: I yearn for the day when we don't need this one anymore. Bloaty McBloatShit
- MageNuggets: Proc monitors, portal window, auto-whisper thanks for stuff like Innervate/Focus Magic, Living Bomb meters... nothing really necessary anymore except the Living Bomb meter. I don't need this addon at all to play Frost, thanks to built-in PowerAuras.
- OmniCC: I've always preferred digital clocks to regular. /shrug
- Quartz: Only for the latency bar, really. It's pretty but if Bliz had a latency bar in theirs, I'd go with default.
- TargetHealthPercent: Yes, I realize it's built-in now, but you have to choose between it and actual health. I like seeing both.
I think back in Vanilla I had at least 4x the amount of addons.
I use a bag sorter mod so I don't have to bother with moving items around and I figure I'll run with NPCScan again.
Everything else is easy with the default UI and some clever hotkeys.
Only things of Blizzards I hate are the party plates and the immobile bars.
lol wands
To be fair, even in BC until you hit like level 30 or so you leveled priests by putting pain on something then wanding it to death, so that talent was probably legit until you hit 40.
It was, but again that's why Vanilla sucked even more.
KING KRUSH DOWN, FROSTBITTEN COMPLETE
Nice! I probably won't even attempt that one until Northrend becomes a dead continent
I mean you had what, 15 healers in a raid with probably 5 innervates, maximum 8 warrior tanks, but usually 5. 1 or 2 healers would stay ooc to res people that died. Priests and mages would always wand in the longer fights like Garr and Onyxia with Judgement of Wisdom up. 3 healers would not cast to regain mana. Fights had no enrage timers, you'd go till you had no mana.
Remember Nef was a 20-30 minute fight?
EDIT: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...9176226780663#
17 minutes with Phase 1 completely cut out.
DOUBLE EDIT: lol @ Amelia almost wiping us
Mechbunny and Vertebra are still two separate people to me. Vertebra is much cooler.
It's absurd how many healers were necessary to raid back then.
Wow this is so old, it was absurd how we could actually get 40 people for this.
I remember when I got Malistar's Defender and Aurastone Hammer on the same day. Of course this was as my shaman so I'm violating my own NSHDC policy.
I remember waiting the better part of 10000 years for a Nightslayer helm, and then again for CTS and 8 piece. God am I glad that shit doesn't happen anymore.
Just resubbed for 6 months >_< ohgodohman
AND WTF, why am I a mere member?! Mzo promote me back to officer status dammit! I got my authenticator pet too
This shit is getting SERIOUS.Quote:
If you sign up for the Battle.net Dial-in Authenticator, you will be asked to make a toll-free phone call from a specific phone of your choosing to authorize unusual login attempts with the associated Battle.net account. Please note that you will only be asked to make this phone call when something about your login attempt appears out of the ordinary. For example, if you were to log in from a location from which you do not typically play, you may be asked to call in and provide your selected PIN and a unique, single-use security code before access to the account will be granted.
Also: Goblin/Worgen race changing will be available right from launch, there are no race feats, and Insane is getting nerfed.
So is 'Insane' staying in now?
Looks like it, but it no longer needs Shen'dralar.
Everyone who just spent thousands of gold on Pristine Black Diamonds and Librams is crying their eyes out now
hopefully the price of those fuckers goes down so my pally can get her black phoenix tabard

Capitals are being invaded, event bosses in the dungeon queue dropping 251 gear.
got a couple of upgrades. bosses are simple. can only queue after you beat back the elementals though. good times.
The gear is so terrible, it's all shit that will be replaced in a couple weeks and has no cohesive style to make it worth keeping like the WOTLK intro stuff. The elemental invasion is neat, but I think too many people cried about the zombie infestation for them to do anything as awesome at that ever again.
Anyway, finally finished the AQ scepter chain. I wish the feat for that gave Scarab Lord.
People are so pissed about everything, especially when it ruins their precious idea of how vanilla was in their head. The Scarab Lord on our server that got it by actually opening AQ during the event is only one because he spent about $10,000 to buy off the major guilds, and the majority of people that became one are because of BC glitches.
Yeah but then you have people like Kungen who were just legitimately in a position to make it happen.
If you give everyone everything there's no point to a reward based game anymore. If you could just automatically have every tittle, mount and one shot Deathwing you wouldn't keep playing the game, so you have to find the balance. I think it's a smart idea to have things that are no longer attainable.
I didn't say that they would or that you said they should. I used it as a hyperbolic example of what happens in a reward based game when rewards become too easy to get.
I'm also not being protective, just saying what I think about the topic as someone who did the same amount of work you did. If you don't enjoy discussion avoid forums imo.
Well, two people (possibly three) rang the gong on our sever. You had the Russian guy that payed for it, the warlock from Drama (first worldwide Nef kill) who got it legitimately, and maybe the GM of Death and Taxes (most late vanilla and early bc worldwide first kills) playing on Diedre(sp?) the second account of a guy in our guild.
The AQ opening was still and always be the most epic thing ever in WoW. I got to kill every single world raid boss in the weeks before it too!
Also: You guys did more work than the legitimate Scarab Lords. All they did was roll or be awarded the first Broodlord kill after the patch; then they had whole servers working on their rep to neutral; then multiple raiding guilds take them through the quest chain.
He joined RR for a while and was trying to buy this guy from vodka to come to our server and carry him through PVP. He is a silly man.
I really didn't care for the opening of AQ, it was just annoying to me. The Ony quest chain and fighting her for the first time was the thing about vanilla I loved the most.
I know I did more work, but I did it years later.
That specific title is for who did it first, not who did the most work. I do think it's lame that people got them on BC servers though, that shouldn't have happened.
Jesus christ Opaque. Who gives a fuck.
Also, I did the AQ questline at 70 - not 80. So I am way more LEET than MechDeus
It's true, but I had to tank a lot of that for you. Mzo, however, will never kill Weavil.
I think the term you're looking for is "NRFSHDC".
Also, the new forums are pretty neat for the sole fact that achievement ratings are listed under your avatar.
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/
It's true though. I made a completely on topic, non complaining, post and people still find something to bitch about.
If Mech and I had said the exact same things in reverse people still would have cried about what I said, because I said it. Not because of what was said. Meanwhile if Mech and Mzo had the same conversation no one would have said a damn thing, because it was a harmless discussion.
I remember getting a snow day the day the AQ gates opened, and I got to experience all of it. Shit was rad.
I needa get on this pre-cata business. I'll try to get on tomorrow.
Apparently The Shattering™ is happening next week. If you log in for anything pre-cata, it should be this.
Post Shattering Stormwind is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I know I'm going to miss out on this :[
THE END IS NIGH. COPPERFIELD IS RETURNING FROM HIS STONY SLUMBER BENEATH THE THE EARTHS SURFACE. WHAT ROUGH BEAST, IT'S HOUR COME ROUND AT LAST, SLOUCHES TOWARDS AZEROTH TO BE BORN?
FUCK copperfield is back? Ugh, now I do want to buy lich king... blargh.
Cataclysm CE is back on Amazon. $79.99 with free release-day arrival as always.
Screw CE's. Digital for life.
I'll get it from K-Mart for $15 after my $25 gaming coupon. Wsup price of one month sub.
I still want a cheap copy of Lich King... why the hell isn't that on sale anywhere?
It won't go on sale until the day after you buy it.
Also: Maybe black friday somewhere?
I'm not sure that exists where he is.
http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft...0134349&sr=8-1
It's on sale for $20 right now. No clue if you need the Japanese store or if the roundeyes one will ship to you.
Well shit, that's the price I was looking for. Aight, so who here can i ship it to and have them e-mail me the key? I don't need the box and all that crap.
I can, send me a PM with the info you need.
:pQuote:
MechDeus has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space.
Just PM me your address.
I've been playing a lock on the 4.0.3a PTR, and I just finished the long long long ass Fiona's Caravan questline in EPL. That is easily the most well crafted series of quest chains I've ever done in WoW, EVER. Those characters are absolute bros, and I hope that they put them in a cata patch so you can have more adventures with them. Riding on a stagecoach is also pretty cool.
I was totally NOT READY to be dragged into ICC. :/
Also WTF is wrong with the people you guys grouped with?
People who have never played a video game before play WoW and only WoW. Therefore, they are bad at video games. You would be surprised how many people who call themselves good WoW players this applies to.
Oh god, did you guys PUG an icc?
Im not talking about their skill, (I had to be the worst there by far) I'm talking about the insane rambling.
Ooooh, and Whale Shark = Awesome.
I rage quit at Sindragosa, I wanted to die.
FYI, the Old World ends tonight. Everything changes tomorrow, that includes no more ZG or the mounts within. Come say goodbye to the old rickety Azeroth today.
Do we know what time shit goes bonkers tomorrow?
I guess I'll be on tonight.
DREWWWW. CAN YOU BE ON AT 7PM EST?
