Actually they've gone out of their way to simplify the game a lot.
I'll spec Holy I guess, just be patient with me in those early 5-mans while I get this chakra shit figured out.
Yeah, I hit 40 last night after maybe a total of 3 nights a few hours each night.
Oh fuck I have to earn 150g tonight...
Basically just jump in and figure it out is the best way. I probably don't have enough dedication to pull this off but here goes!
I remember playing beta with a few guys and I got to level 30. It took FOREVER. Then when the game officially launched we rerolled Alliance and I was burnt out by level 26. I'll give it another go. Told there's more to do than just raid up until the end game.
The whole game is probably a million times better than how it started. Leveling characters in 1-60 feels like you're actually in a video game, not just an MMO. So much shit is going down everywhere, and with their phasing stuff, things change constantly. It's retarded good.
Still on Shattered Hand? Don't know if I'll join RF (not that committed, assuming I'd even be useful) but I wouldn't mind rolling with a few TNLers when time permits.
You're fine, dude, you wouldn't believe some of the assholes who were in RF forever and were twice as useless
And some of which are still in RF for some retarded reason.
BTW, speaking of random people Arcadeis is a buddy of mine. Drew was just too damned lazy to add that to his note when he invited him.
Guys. Half of one hour until you DIIIIEEEE.
My router shat itself at the 2nd boss fight in Blackrock Caverns, and when I tried to reconnect, I was in queue at position 2250. FML
My video card started overheating around 10pm last night. Proof God thinks I'm a faggot
Rampant Fronting is now a level 2 guild with 20 achievement points! We are reaping rewards.
We need to get on killing 50,000 critters for the Armadillo. Also 25,000 quests.
Terrorweb Tunnel imo
Seriously had fun with RF last night/this morning. I can't believe I'm stuck at work and I'm beat as shit.
I hope my fucking video card isn't dead. I'm not even sure my backup could run WoW
Do we need a group to do guild runs of the old places to get those guild achievements? I will tank that shit.
I'll go to any guild runs of old content that's necessary. I'm not sure if there are any though. AFAIK the only place I never did was Ruby Sanctum 25, but we need to work on getting glory of the cata raider, Dark Phoenix mounts, man.
Make sure not to do them all in one day, or you'll be capped
What is Shattered Hands server load like? My friends and I are considering changing to a lower population realm. I have literally spent more time in queue then playing Cataclysm. Would you cunts take in 3 or 4 decent people?
Of course we would.
Shattered Hand was one of the original servers and queues were always hot messes. I had no problems logging in and playing yesterday, though. Anyone else?
There was a 5 minute queue here or there, according to Vlos. I never saw it.
We sure do have a lot of Horde these days!
Lot o' horde.
The ratio is like 80% Horde, 20% Alliance or worse. In Hyjal it's like a 30/1 ratio.
Playing on this server is an act of self-flagellation.
I kind of hate our server now. There are a few PVP Servers that are even, or in Ally favor, but I'd never transfer without the guild.
Just turning in a quest was suicide in Hyjal. There'd be about 1000 horde on each questgiver and I maybe saw 50 Alliance in the entire zone.
Also, I'm playing this game on a Radeon 9600 and loving every second of it.
I'd pay for a transfer in a second if the guild was doing it. World PVP should be a really cool aspect of Cataclysm, but that's not going to be the case on Shattered Hand.
We should just go horde on Shattered Hand and gank the shit out of <The Saxons>
As much as this hurts to ask, how much is a transfer?
It's $25 per character which equals LOL
Honestly, it's terrible right now because of the launch. The population is 2.2 horde: 1 alliance, which sucks but isn't the worst.
I'd only transfer Chucker TBH... or go horde.
Yeah, we'd lose a ton of people even trying to mass transfer. Not to mention alts with other professions and alt banks and shit.
If we were going to leave Shattered Hand, we should have done it in 2006
Start super secret team jacob alts on a diff server imo.
Why so much Horde?
Blood Elves.
We used to have powerhouse Ally guilds like Drama and Death and Taxes, they left, so did a lot of alliance. Horde stayed.
We were one of the first servers to have transfers and they happened at the absolute low point for server stability. The ratio has just gotten worse since.
Alliance only has one serious raiding guild at this point and Horde have like eight
$25 is acceptable to me when I consider how many hours I will be putting into the game, and how the transfer would increase my enjoyment of said hours. Wouldn't really expect anyone on TNL to agree though, considering people around here usually wait for a game to go sub-$30 before considering buying it.
I've thought about trying Horde for a long time, since it's a huge part of the game I have yet to experience, but I sure as hell would want to do that on a more balanced server.
Anyway, horrible server is still > a server where I don't know anyone, so RF fo' life.
We could merely shift factions, but that puts us at risk of the guild dissolving. Same goes for a server transfer.
It really sucks right now, yes. But then think about what we've been and likely what will be in the next 2 years or so: a 10, sometimes 25 man raiding guild with the roster more or less decided at this point. We wont have to deal with the ratio being a problem for a lot longer. Would it be awesome to have a bigger pool of talented raiders to recruit from every so often? I guess, but it's not worth hundreds of dollars and a guild dissolution.
EDIT: Bear in mind I don't actually know if you can preserve guilds and banks and guild levels when everyone transfers.
Something tells me the Top Weekly contributors is bugged:
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/guild/sh...nt%20fronting/
But, hey GRATS ON LEVEL 2 RF!
You could think about it this way: We would lose people, yes, but if the core group you really care about agrees to transfer, then you could easily recoup and surpass the losses on a healthier server.
Yeah, losing people would suck, but you gotta weigh that against the fact that this guild will not get any better/bigger than it is now if you stay on Shattered Hand. Might even get worse, i'm sure the writing's on the wall for a lot of Alliance on SH.
LOL @ George saying 2 years from now. This game is over for me in March.
Do you gain more guild EXP as a large guild? No
Do you get better loot from dungeons as a large guild? No
Blizzard fixed any of the reasons we would have for leaving and recruiting elsewhere. The only thing the sucks about Shattered Hand is the time spent questing and outside of a city/instance, which at level 85 is practically non-existant
I was perfectly happy when RF used 6 person party chat on the original XBOX Live.
Oh.
Shit.
I hit 85 because I am a soulless heartless retard.
Truth.
Also we're never going to get the classy human achievement because of you now.
WHO WILL BE OUR LEVEL 85 HUMAN ROGUE? HUH VLOS? WHO?
How many people does it take to raid? I thought you just hooked up with other guilds to do it. I'm going to join this game and play it on my Mac. When I have some spare time towards Christmas I will play. Maybe on Shattered Hand to start. Chux can give me all of his gold when he quits.
Raiding in this expansion is going to be easier than ever. Raids are 10 or 25 man and we've haven't done the guild-alliance bullshit since vanilla WOW 40-mans.
I'm pretty hopeful for our raid groups for this coming expansion, we've got a lot of solid people switching to more versatile classes which will hopefully alleviate a lot of the stress we've been used to as far as putting together a decent raid.
And by alot of people I mean myself and arvine switching to DK/Druid from our useless hunters.
I was planning on going Gnome/Mage. Keep in mind I haven't played since beta/launch so I figured it was a good noob class - but I'm reading Gnomes are shit.
First off: gnomes are amazing. Secondly: gnome racials actually work for caster classes. Thirdly: Chromie.
Only downside to gnomes is that your gear looks like shit.
Might go Dwarf Paladin now that I'm reading a few things. Jonas went Hunter. I'll try a few combos out to level 10 to see what I like.
Hey they're a lot more useful now that we're buff fillers, including heroism. But yeah, I'm rolling a Druid in case we need a role filled and we're missing that one thing. I might as well be that one hunter though, wouldn't want those bow/gun drops to go to waste :D
pew pew pew
Yeah, I'll probably bring Rahmbo up to 85 after I get Rambown there just to test the waters as far as usefulness goes, but I don't think we have any other DKs right now right?
I brought axross my rogue, name was taken so its called "arjue". Send us a ginvite if you see me on, my realID is acpo_w at hot mayal dott comm
ps, if any of you would like to do up cooking from scratch let me know, I have around 600 northern spices and a bunch of meat thats useless to me now
Fuck the no-life faggots getting to 85 in one day.
You get to level once every two years or so and have the rest of the time to grind the endgame over and over and over again. Why are you rushing to get to the boring part?
^^ THIS. I always take my sweet time anyway.
What shocked me is getting ganked by an 85 goblin 2 days after the game came out.
Race change probably.
I'm 83 right now and I feel like I'm leveling fast. I'd probably be nowhere near that if George didn't do Hyjal with me and Tock and his friend didn't do most of Deepholm. Questing alone sucks
lol Rack was joking around about "It sucks that nobody else in the guild can do these heroics, I hate these damn pugs". and I was like LOL FAGGOT, some of us have other shit going on, especially with the holidays coming up.
I'll probably hit 85 by the end of the week though.
I've got work and a christmas party tonight, but hopefully I'll have most of Sat/Sun night to hit 85, I think I was halfway through 83 when I logged last night. Seems like there's a whole helluva lot of questing to do, which hopefully means I don't have to repeat all that much with Rahmbo.
I rushed to 85 just to jump ahead of the curve and avoid the overcamped areas (and all the bugged quests that seem to be popping up). It will be awhile before LFD groups can routinely down these heroic bosses and hopefully by then we will have plenty of 85s in guild to avoid the need to do that. Heroic bosses give 70jp each, on top of 70vp for the first random and 70jp for each subsequent, so we'll get that gear pretty quickly once it doesn't take 2 hours to do an instance :D.
Leveling this time around was easier compared to previous expansions Blizz has released imo. If you zone hop as soon as you level up you will hit 85 much faster than you would if you cleared a zone first. The 9.2m xp required to hit 85 isn't bad when you are averaging 2m/hour.
I'm going back and finishing all the quests I missed now, and picking up more things to DE for enchanting. Though even at 85 its hard to take on multiple 83/84 hordes who are going around the zone in rape trains.
For now if you have enchanting it helps to check wowhead for quest rewards to determine which ones have the highest chance to produce Hypnotic Dust when DE'd. Generally weapons seem to have the best chance of producing it currently. It's going to be nice when they fix this dust/essence bug as I am sitting on a ton of those new essences.
Also, if anyone has 6 Volatile fire they aren't using, mail them to me and I'll make you the new caster spellthread: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=75250 .
It's pretty awesome that you can make volatile's from cloth
I'll probably be 85 by the end of the weekend. From there it'll probably be another week or so before others have dinged 85 and a little more after that of chaining heroics to build up raid worthy gear for 10.
I'll be 85 tonight, but yeah being ahead of the curve is great, and I have alts to level as well to enjoy things more. 30% to goooo and with Rawrvine we'll be a full RF group now.
It sure would have been nice to not get cockblocked in deepholm by bugs and horde.
You should have tagged along with us. We ganked every horde we saw, to the point they started getting on alts and whispering us.
And that one bugged quest on the ship doesn't stop zone progression btw
Really good plan = Ignoring 90% of the new content while you two man a couple dungeons over and over
Actually he just went to one place and had non grouped members help him kill mobs outside of a cave. Basically the same idea, though.
Also he turned in 25 WotLK quests as soon as the servers came up.
He used a beach with endlessly spawning Naga in Twilight I believe (that has since been fixed). He tagged them and had an outside group kill them all.
He also used heirlooms, which work from 80-81 apparently... I thought they fixed that shit.
I leveled to 85 because I wanted to get there while the bazillion horde are mostly leveling and ignoring me (true to form, the couple 85s I ran into while 84 would usually farm me for a few minutes) and because there's too much glitched shit for me to finish anything. Most of us can't finish Vashj'ir, anyone that started Twilight Highlands after the server reboot can't finish it, I was already past Hyjal by the time I went back (which I only did to get mats for leveling enchanting), and the Harrison Jones questline in Uldum bugged out on like three different quests which meant five minutes of effort turned into an hour.
Everything they've added is fucking awesome but they need to fix a bunch of spawning issues (which is the majority of the bugs I've run into). Now I'm working on archeology and waiting for prices on mats to drop.
How do you start Archeology btw? I tried to figure it out last night for a second but couldn't. Do you go to a starting zone and just look at your map or what?
Go to a trainer in a major city, guards will tell you the location. After that open your continent map and you'll see little shovels, fly to one of those (there will be a red circle on your area map of exactly where to go) and use surveying. It will drop a surveying eyeglass that points in the direction you need to go and a flashing light that tells you how far away you are (red is far, flashing green is close), keep travelling and surveying until the item appears.
Each spot is worth three pickups, and a new one spawns as soon as you finish one.
Exactly, it was way easier to grind out quests when everyone in the zone was focused on hitting 85 and left you mostly alone. Even with the almost instant respawn time of named quest mobs it went quicker without a lot of competition.
Do you still need to edit that config file to enable DX11 or is there a different method now?
Wait, this game is DX11 enabled? Why would it even need to be?
I did Heroic SFK today and I thought Baron Silverlaine was the hardest heroic boss. I was DEAD FUCKING WRONG because Erudax at the end of Grim Batol is fucking impossible without a team of people in heroic gear and me not being combat. Everything in the fight is designed to fuck over a combat rogue.

As it turns out, Cataclysm incorporates experimental support for DirectX 11, and rather than adding anything visually, it's designed to help speed up performance, too.
I tried it and got an extra 30fps in many places. No more stuttering movement either.
Wow leveling up is so much quicker than before. If I make it to level 30 and am not burnt out I may play it for a couple of months in my down time. I've only played 5 hours since Wednesday and am already in Westfall with my Gnome Warlock. Want to try out some of the newer classes, though (Draeni and Wolfdudes)
RACES ARE NOT THE SAME AS CLASSES

Whatever dude!

Man; the heroic level and shit is so much harder than almost anything in WOTLK.
Where would you rank it in difficulty?
I'm interested because more guilds have a raid kill one week into this than had a HM LK kill before the 4.0 patch.
Damn! Hard to tame?
That new shale spider model is incredible. I hope you have one of those.
Honestly, the jump in difficulty is a lot like from Vanilla WoW to BC, Burning Crusade to WOTLK was nothing because there was no massive stat inflation. People could wear T6 all the way to Naxxramas and Malygos. If you tried that with this expansion, you'd be doing no damage and every boss AOE would kill you.
Even if you have full Sanctified T10 or whatever, you'll replace most of it with greens by the time you leave the first leveling zone
lol that 3D Joust quest was awesome. Egg phase!
Throwing bears off of trees onto trampolines, how topical.
I'm telling you I feel like Blizzard finally took 5 minutes off making the game and looked at the internet. A lot of memes are in there.
Well not many people killed HM LK. Or did you mean normal?
These guilds have already killed everything on the PTR, they had a month or so with premade characters to get these mechanics down perfectly, and have dedicated the last week entirely to this game, which is a lot of hours.
And also the leveling was really fast.
