It is the year 2010 and we still haven't gotten all the wonderful things promised to us. My dad never got his own personal mini jet or a vacation home on the moon. I still don't have my own personal buddy robot or flying car.

We had computers in the 80s. They are faster now. We had CG movie shit back then, its better now. We had the internet back then, and shitty as it was. Rich people even had cell phones. Things have advanced smoothly, in a straight line.

The point is when an advanced piece of equipment does something that a less advanced piece of equipment does it shouldn't impress you. My PS3 can play 1080p Blu-Ray movies, if they add a VCR to it my mind will not be blown. My computer can download CDs and Movies while I play a video game in high resolution online with people I am talking to through vent and streaming internet radio, so why the fuck would I be impressed because it can do this:

But google phone does more than make calls. It turns voice mail into texts(eg., email) and I can make a call, use the compose mail, and send a text. For free.
My friend has a roomba, cars can park themselves, my phone does just about everything, and the ineternet is everywhere. Things are getting pretty sweet imo.

I think you're failing to appreciate that technology is software, not just hardware. Yeah, computers are the same thing with more memory and storage and faster processors, but we've thought of applications for computing that are pretty mindblowing.

It will only take a marginal amount of work to link that tech with your phone, gps, and internet to do what you predicted.
