This game looks like something I'd enjoy. I'll definitely pick it up when there's a sale.

Well, raise my rent. You *are* The Kid.
He's Gary Carter?
Just finished the first run. Really nice ending, I like how they handled it.
Combat was generic and grew to be tiresome after a while, and I wish they had thrown out the idea of having special moves and simply made the attacking and defending naturally more robust. Seems like they restricted a lot of stuff solely to justify having limited use upgrades. Jumping was also a great upgrade, shame it lasted for all of ten minutes of the game. Targeting and target swapping was also sketchy and slippery at best, which also sometimes made the weapons that have a specific timing for power shots annoying to use. There's also way too many enemies shooting from off-screen, I really hate that.
Most of these issues don't matter unless you're using shrines since the game is complete faceroll without them, and either way the sound and art make it worth playing anyway. I like it overall, and I'd put it ahead of Alice: Madness Returns for "average game with great aesthetics" this year. It's similar to Torchlight in that it uses an overhead view and you kill things.
PC version August 16
I had no idea Greg Kasavin was involved with this. I bought my first Neo Geo from him what seems like forever ago.
Yeah, I didn't know that either until I went to the developer's website. Last I had heard he was at EA. I'd imagine working at an indie dev in a role with increased creative input would be more interesting for a guy like him.
Downloading the Steam version, will give it a go tonight. I like the art.
How does it control on the PC? I assume it has controller options, but I'm not set up like that. If you can play it diablo-style, I think I'll get it off Steam.
