Jesus. This is spreading like herpes but without the sex.
finally.
So this was the project Namco was working on before Tekken x Street Fighter. Tekken x Street Fighter will be out 2013 then.
Heh, that's an interesting photo considering...
that's why i posted it
Finally, and no BS this time. Nice.
I wonder if Namco is developing some sort of System Super 357 with more RAM (1 Gig, or 768 MB?) for this, or if they're going with the original 512 MB PS3 hardware.
arcade pc 360 ps3 please
also in that order
pc lol
yeaah i know
Wow, they're still making PS2 games?
Also, this thread should be entitled "Tekken Tag Tournament 2: TNLs FUTURE #1 game"
The video quality drops off after the first 10 seconds, man.
After they stop showing CG and start showing the actual game? My, what a coincidence.
Bad News Korly, now that I have to choose 2 characters, the other will have to be asuka. And we both know how much you LOVE fighting my asuka.
It's a couple steps up from Dead or Alive 2 on the Dreamcast, graphics-wise. Face move nowadays, it's crazy.
Lots of light bloom and motion blur effects too!
If something's got to give, let it be the backgrounds. Stages like T6's Tomato Festival could afford to have a smaller crowd if they get reused for TTT2. Just don't nerf the character customization.Quote:

slightly sub-par graphics from an alpha build of MY dream-team tag game??? I WON'T STAND FOR THIS
edit: you god damn babies are lucky to be getting ANYTHING, you could be a virtua fighter fan like me and wait with bated breath every year for a new game only to be met with disappointment, sorrow and anger
Why is this a stand alone game? Why don't they just make it an add on to Tekken 6? Oh yeah to get dumbasses to pay 60 dollars for a game they've played before with... dare I say it... A TAG feature! Pass until 10 dollars.
I'm with you, Virtua-Brother. Some friends and I actually found the time to have a lil VF tourney action a couple weekends ago. It always feels good to go back to it. Also feels good to drink some Stella with the fellas. People are so insane on VF5 online. I can hold my own sometimes, but there are some players that are simply astounding.
I would rather play VF than Tekken as well, and I don't know why, I am much better at tekken.
I hope this game finally has a for real tutorial like every other fighting game these days.
I hope there is an updated bowling mode...but it will probably use the MOVE.
Tekken Tag Tournament was the only Tekken I ever cared about. This... does not have me excited. I'll wait till no one is playing before I pick it up Week 2.
I'm pretty excited for this.
Then it's you and Korly, I smell a man on man session.
I wouldn't mind if there wasn't any customization... if it means pumping more polygons into the character models.
That said, I'm super excited to see this and I hope that they put both Boskonoviches into the game.
The latest issue of Japan's Arcadia Magazine featured an article on Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and an interview with the game's director, Katsuhiro Harada. Reno from Versus City was kind enough to give translated highlights.
* They emphasize that the “festive” feeling of Tekken is really important for this game.
* They are going to do their best to make sure walls are still incorporated into the game, because they’d like to include elements of Tekken 4 – 6 into Tag 2.
* The game is able to handle up to four characters on the screen at the same time, without a doubt. However, how that will be incorporated into the game is still undecided.
* Character count won’t decrease from what it is right now in Tekken 6, which is 40 characters.
Day 1.
Test footage, tons of team attacks:
tekken has the best throw escape animations
The coolest thing about that video is the escape for the double team move (even though no one could actually escape PAUL PHOENIX)
I think the best thing about tekken is the way korly gets excited about it. That convinces me FAR more than the actual game.
That's where you're wrong Anthony. The best thing about Tekken is EVERYTHING.
The best part of Tekken is Phoenix Smashing everything in sight.
Namco has a new trailer of TTT2. Heihachi is younger here, and there's a new unnamed female wrestler who looks a bit like Rainbow Mika.
I'm liking the new stage designs.
really? r mika is the first thing that comes to mind? seems more like they're straight muggin' lisa from dead or alive 4 to me
I thought her name was confirmed as JC, maybe for Julia Chang?
I think I might go undefeated in this game:
http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tnl/att...1&d=1298926708
It's not hard to be number one when no one else is playing.
I'm also undefeated at Britneys Dance Beat, and will defend that title anywhere, anytime.
No worrying about character customization now... it's in there and actually better than previous Tekkens. It wouldn't surprise me if this were revealed to be on an upgraded System 357 with double the PS3's own RAM- then later on PS4 we get a graphically upgraded version, like TTT1 on PS2.
There's also a new card system called BANA Passport which it seems will save ALL your character stats and customizations to the same card.
LOL @ 1:34- In the lakeside stage, you can splashdown the spectators.
Edit: I was right. TTT2 runs on new hardware called System 359 which I guess will have double the RAM or better.
There's some good news and some bad.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 arcade units will require an internet connection to be playable (AFAIK the Japanese cabinet, not sure about international versions).
The PCB must be charged with prepaid cards, and 1 card has 10,000 points. Each player using the machine will cost 5 points. If your TTT2 board runs out of points, it won't play. The price of a credit on TTT2 probably went up one more quarter with this.
The good? There will be periodic updates introducing new characters, stages, and other combo moves.
That's a pretty shitty deal for arcade operators, which means it's typical these days.
Arcades are dead and buried here. Shit like this is just another load of dirt on the grave.
Unknown is the final boss, obviously.
Shitty for arcade dealers unless the board isn't very expensive. That way a place that gets less play can get a cheaper board then one that gets lots, like an insurance of sorts.
Heihachi looks really weird. Looks like everyone's de-aged in this, like around Tekken 1-2.
The non-lease board is like 800,000 yen, not cheap.
Tekken Tag 2 gets it's first (only?) US hands on today at NEC.
Filthierich just announced that a few cities are getting TTT2 location tests in the near future.

I get the feeling the PS3/360 versions are going to look like butt.
Too bad because TTT2 is the most hype I've been for a Tekken game since part 5.
All Tekken games look like butt.
Okay fine.
Extra butt.
Depends on what's different between System 357 (T6) & 369 (TTT2). Anyway, I have a feeling TTT2 on console will require HDD install for character data to avoid Saturn MKII Shang Tsung Syndrome on tags. MK9 handles tagging well, but TTT2 characters might take more RAM. Namco's staff is probably thinking "What, they think we won't be able to pull off a perfect console version? We'll show them, just like we did with T5!"
800,000 yen for the non-lease board? Shit. That's just over $10,000. I bet you won't find this outside of Dave & Buster's or similar places. Ever.
If Tekken games look like butt, than it's Kim Kardashian butt.
So tekken likes having sex with black dudes.
Got it.
Edit: I see why you like it so much now. ZING
The NYC TTT2 location test was announced in error. :(
Bad times.Quote:

TTT2 is a huge flop in Japan, very few people playing it outside of the top Tekken players.
The game is completely awesome. Moreso if you like other Tekken games.
Ultimate Marvel is better.
I'm interesting to see how you're coming to this conclusion, as I know you're good for this sort of information but it runs counter to a lot of static that I've heard.
I'll laugh if it's doing so bad that it's been passed by a couple of un-networked arcade games (like what happened to SF4 for a bit before AE came out).
I've checked with the Kansai crowd who frequent Monte Carlo, the #1 arcade for Tekken in Japan. It's only really hopping when the pros come by. For a brand new iteration, its income is behaving like a patch (ie people play but they aren't lining up for it) which is making arcades who shelled out $40k on the setup very anxious.
There's not a lot of chatter coming out of the Twitter side from players either. VF and SF crowds have both commented on it actually. A friend of mine who hangs with the Osaka Tekken crowd commented that average players don't like how it's so chaotic like MVC.
As an aside, SF4AE has been performing poorly as well. There are plenty of people who watch streams but very few who are putting coins in machines. Obviously, there is a home version so that's the main factor but fighting games in generally seem to be fading again due to the approach of developers (ie stuffing millions of characters in a game and then tweaking over patches so players have to memorize/re-memorize rather than coming up with more indepth gameplay).
I spoke to some of the reasons in my previous post but T6 was pretty popular over its lifetime.
The main factors I see in TTT2's lack of popularity:
1) too many characters (look at that select screen, there are too many characters to memorize)
2) gameplay is chaotic looking like MVC
3) cost of the setup (not many places will want to invest in it after seeing how other fighters have failed to perform (ie KOFXIII, VF5, AE)
4) clientele is getting old (ie the players' average age skew higher than say Gundam Extreme Vs meaning they likely have less time to commit to play and going back to point 1, are not likely to commit to playing seriously as there is too much to memorize especially when patches come out)
There are only like 2 more characters in this game than T6 had though.
And the game is flashy, but not chaotic.
I think SFxT is going to be the point where the "fighting game resurgence" jumps the shark.
I'm still looking forward to it, though.
Yeah, it seems goofy, but I've yet to play a fighting game with gems that I didn't like. MSH, Pocket Fighter, and Power Stone are all good times.
It already is.
Yes it is.
It probably is...
Does not compute: Marvel does not have Paul Phoenix.
I want to play as jun!
Marvel has a better, more fearful, Phoenix.
Does she have falling leaf combo? -a rivalry with a bear? -a standing challenge to every interstellar contender?
Then, no, it does not.
And she most certainly doesn't have the Phoenix Smasher.
Actually, I haven't yet played MvC3, for all I know it's the best fighter ever.
I don't think it is.
Probably not.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is the best fighter ever.
Phoenix challenged the sun and won.
As someone who has actually played both games, I can confirm that TTT2 is better than MvC3.
Also, in a series with a history of awesome BGM, TTT2 has the best music of any game in the series.
I've played TTT2. It's fun but Ultimate is far more fun. Markman cries.
I want to beat up korly with jun. She's my favourite tekken character.
Then find out where Razors secret spot is and we'll go play!
