I've had a tough time getting into the flow of combat. I snipe a guy with the bow, then they all spot me and bumrush me. Lara can only take a few hits.

The dodge/stab is your friend, but you do need to keep moving if there are more than a couple guys right on you.
What Yoshi said.
The only real glitch that I experienced was when Lara's textures went all blackface from the neck up during what was supposed to be an emotional cutscene when Roth dies. It was both strange and hilarious.
This is like $15 on GMG for PC for the next 5 and a half hours.
Good call, thanks!
Game is $17 and there's a 20% off coupon on their Hot Deals page so it comes out to $13.60 in case anyone cares about the exact cost.
Blech. I hadn't considered but am not surprised by this extreme form of laziness. "Let's take the PC versions of our last gen games and re-release them for the current gen!" If it sells though, I can't blame them.
If the rereleases are cheap I'm fine with it.
You mean like the $60 Deus Ex on Wii U? Good luck with that.
I already have the current gen version
I don't see this as a bad thing. If they've already gone to the effort of making higher resolution textures and better quality textures, why not re-use them for a console re-release so that more people can play the game as it is meant to be played?
I wonder if this is the beginning of a trend. I wouldn't mind seeing next-gen versions of games like Sleeping Dogs and DmC, both of which are night-and-day on console and PC.
Exactly. Square-Enix already blamed games like Tomb Raider for not meeting their financial projections, instead of their out of whack sales projections, despite it being one of their best selling games. There's no chance in hell it launches for under $60. Had I not already played it I would definitely be excited, but there's no reason at all for a double dip at full price.
Nobody was going to buy Deus Ex on Wii U ever. I don't know why they sunk a single cent on that platform.
As always, Nintendo platforms are for Nintendo games.
I'll buy it super cheap, but the company needs to understand that when they do this they need to price the new versions like greatest hits games, not a brand new game.
So I just started playing Lara Croft Torture Porn tonight.
It's... really good actually. I'm surprised at how much fun I'm having actually and stayed up far too late playing it. Well worth the $10 I paid for it.
Also, it looks fucking gorgeous with all the settings maxed on PC.
I think Tomb Raider is in my top 3 favorite games of this year.
The story is shit, but you can easily ignore it. Gameplay is great for the most part, and there was a lot less QTE than I was expecting.
Even with skipping the story parts, it has way more interruption of gameplay than I expected. You can't walk more than a few feet in this game without some cinema being activated (even more than in Uncharted games) or having a "press up to slowly walk" segment. The latter is probably to mask load times but it's still annoying.
It gets better on that the further you progress, but the story sure doesn't get any better.
This game is good, but I feel like Emperor Joseph in Mozart when I think of the combat, there's simply way too much. It's exhausting. Cut out 30% and it would strike the right balance. Uncharted always seems to get it right, even the Golden Shower.
The first one got it right.
Weird. I grew tired of Uncharted's combat soon after starting, but I hundo-percented Tomb Raider. I think Tomb Raider was more exciting! Maybe I'd just rather be facing racially diverse psychos than brown psychos in my games. Spice of life and all.
so the Definitive Edition for next gen runs at 30 FPS
hahahahaha
NOPE
My PC runs it better than that
That shit killed my framerate. Still used it though.
It does appear to have some degree of wavy hair, so once again a stupid choice has been made in the land of console compromises.
I'll rent it just to see it, but I won't support the developer with a new purchase.
TressFX is cool, but not worth the FPS hit. 60 FPS or no deal. I'm a tad disappointed that the next-gen console version is only 30 FPS. Sticking with PC for this one (I'm sure what happened with Deus Ex HR will be repeated...).
I don't know why you guys are so bothered by the 30fps thing, if it runs consistently and has a bunch of neat effects I'm still good.
Because you might as well play it on PC at 60 fps. It's not very definitive if another version is equal or better.
Interesting Info!

Pretty damning.
My dad can beat up your dad.
Yeah but when my dad is 100 dollars less than your dad with well documented evidence that my dad performs better, what reason outside of dogged brand loyalty is there to invest in your dad?
Some dads offer unique Content Experiences.
how do I do the little tm?
Just get the exclusives and the system when it's cheaper so opposite of last gen for me.
Protip: Tomb Raider is a great game regardless of the system you play it on.
Yeah it really is a great game. Wish this was a sequel or had a bunch of exclusive new content.
Both versions sound pretty bad. More stable but still variable 30fps vs. jitteriness from a framerate that does whatever the fuck it wants. Should've just charged for the graphical upgrade on PC and waited until some more PS4/XBO experience was under their belt before hiring two separate companies to do two separate ports.
I don't know if I would call it great. Not a bad pickup for either system if you haven't played it yet though.
I actually finished this game - and I finish almost nothing. Whatever that means to anyone.
That you really liked watching Lara get impaled.
Well, the only thing I remember from Tomb Raider 2 was figuring out how to kill Lara in the training mansion. Swan dive from the stairs, broken neck.
I have a bad habit of playing right up to the final boss on games, and deciding it's not worth the trouble. Gameplay was fun, but the story was garbage so there's no payoff anyway.
Generic McCharacterington was amazing though!
