Overall, it was pretty good. I was just kinda shocked at how drab it starts.
Simon's Quest is pretty much the one early console game in the series that I plan on avoiding.

Good decision. Simon's Quest is like a Zelda 2 that does everything in its power to dissuade you from continued playing.
#26 - Densetsu no Stafi 2 (GBA)
More of the same, though streamlined. Reuses pretty much every single sprite from the first game. Keep in mind this came out a year after the original. Instead of one huge area with multiple treasure chests per world, it's now broken up into more traditional areas (1-1, 1-2, etc.) with one treasure chest each. Most of the chests contain clothes for Starfy to wear in the useless but super cute dress-up mode. Individual character pics (and more outfits!) can be bought with pearls now. Played through the game to unlock the bonus areas and then again to get the 2nd and 3rd endings. So close to 100% but I'm missing a couple of enemies from the bestiary, and yet again there is like no fucking information anywhere on the internet about this game (aside from one dude's terrible faq). If anyone knows what enemies #69 and #94 are and where to find them hit me up, otherwise I'm moving on to DnS3.
I beat Donkey Kong Jr. several times this week. I like it a lot, but i wish there was a release with the US arcade level order and difficulty. Nitendo's never going to do that though.

Catherine - Talked about it enough in the thread. Excellent game. One of my favorites this year.
L.A. Noire Expansion Cases - Reefer Madness sucked, but Nicholson Electroplating had the best opening ever. Cases felt a bit thin, but more of a good thing is still a good thing.
Katamari Forever - Didn't like some of the task-specific stages (only roll up hot things? fuck you very much). I liked the new art direction. Not my favorite Katamari, but it's Katamari nonetheless, so I enjoyed it. A good sub-$20 game.

Just beat Portal 1 for the first time today. Playing and finishing Portal 2 taught me how to beat the one level I got stuck on in the original when it came out. I really hope theres a Portal 3 coming.
I own the complete Japanese games for the GBA, been playing them on the GBA SP.
I don't think there are any translations.
I did not play the DS ones yet, I have jap 4 and the US 5 coming in the mail.
Everything I've read seems to imply that the 3rd game is the best in the series, but I really enjoyed the first two. The language hasn't been a barrier at all.
