38. Akumajou Dracula (X68000)

While this game doesn't have branching paths like Akumajou Densetsu/CV3, it's more than made up for by being full of strict enemy and jump placement. Densetsu was no slouch in this area, but this is a a higher tier. Like, Ninja Ryukenden and The Super Shinobi tier. Beating this game requires knowing its stages in far more detail than any other Dracula game. The bosses are often pretty rough, too, unlike Akumajou Densetsu's pushovers. And to top it off, the visuals and soundtrack are better than Rondo of Blood's, with a ton of memorable settings and bosses. This is the best game in the franchise, and one of the best 16-bit side-scrolling action games.
Well, okay, I guess I have yet to play the arcade game. Seems goofy as shit from my few credits, but not awful. Maybe some day.
