There's a file with the download that has the controls listed, they're not that intuitive. To get you started: Hit "Y" when it asks if you want to buy the ship, then walk up to the ship and hit "B" to board it, and then hit the number keys to change the speed you fly at.

Pay attention to the messages you get (they won't be repeated), and fly to where it tells you. Walk up to a building and hit "E" to go inside.

Of course, there are other ways to do things, but you can try those once you understand a little better.

I don't suppose there's a higher quality scan of the Survival Kit's hangar map? I find the numbers on it hard to make out.

*edit - I just noticed the unofficial maps available seem pretty good.

By demonstrating prehistoric 3D? Just because dinosaurs once existed doesn't mean that cave men had a fucking clue. I'll definitely give this a whirl though.

edit: My initial impression is that the developers of this one understood something that most PS1 developers didn't: the limitations of their hardware.

I escaped Targ. In the past, whenever I played the game, I didn't want to get any outside help with maps and such and I always gave up. Trying to keep track of all the rooms and teleporters drove me nuts. This time I used maps and a few hints and had a lot of fun. I don't have that many highly historically significant games left that I haven't played through and this was a long overdue one. I didn't end up using the money I got. I ended up finding the ship to leave the planet. Also, capturing a Mechanoid and having him demand you put him down is pretty funny.

I'm digging this choice, gonna try to find some time to check it out this week.

Yeah, this is kind of the way you have to do it, if you don't want to play with a piece of graph paper. That's why I included that stuff, I don't expect everyone here to be able to get through it cold, I certainly couldn't.

Show me where I can download this game and I'm in. I love old style games like this.

"You have destroyed Bosher Stadium." I love how you can be a complete sociopath and make the game absolutely unwinnable. I'm torn between doing up a new set of maps or attempting to find my 25 year old originals from back when this game was new.
