Chux, you are right about the NES video quality. I played Punch Out in both Wii mode and Wii U mode and it looks 100x better on the Wii. Unfortunately, I hate the way NES stuff maps to the classic controller, and you can only remap in the Wii U version. I'll probably refrain from buying any more NES games until this is fixed.

Still couldn't beat Soda Popinski in either version, on TV or gamepad. I'm actually really good at this game! As a test I just loaded it on an emulator and beat Popinksi's ass with keyboard controls. I then played some Street Fighter 2, and didn't have any issues whatsoever, so I imagine that the issue is that there is the tiniest bit of lag in the system (either in display or controller, I can't tell) but it's so minute that only Punch Out seems to be affected.

Nah, i beat Monkey Watch on the pad without any problems. It actually feels a little better than playing on Wii on my TV, though i might just be used to the game by now.

Wind Waker HD is a lot of fun so far. The graphical rework is mostly palatable. I still don't like the bloom lighting too much, and the models have a distinct rounding to them, making them appear less flat and less like a cartoon in certain lighting situations. But the new conveniences and re-jiggering of mechanics (swinging especially) is GREAT. The gamepad has a pretty decent map, and allocating items to your face buttons takes like half a second and can be switched on the fly.

I started the game on Hero Mode, and it doesn't mess around at the start. You have no way to recover your health until you start getting bottles/potions.

Also, the figure that came with the Gamestop exclusive version actually isn't a piece of shit. It has some decent weight to it, comes with a base for him to stand on, and also his orange sword tassel thingies. Overall, it looks pretty nice!

Shiny new system, shiny new games, so why am I mostly playing Super Nintendo games with it? With a classic controller pro it makes a damn fine SNES, I'm starting to like it more than a real SNES pad.

Netflix on this is neat, how you can switch the playback to the controller screen. I'm not really the type to go walking all over the place when I'm watching a show, but I guess the option is cool.

I've always wished for something like this in movie theaters for when you *have* to pee, but don't want to miss anything. That can ruin a movie. Now I just make sure I go before it starts. But it would be cool if there was a phone app to direct the theater feed there for like five minutes or something limited so people don't take advantage.

I killed a HeroGear zombie yesterday in ZombiU, I was amused.

Also started MH3U.

I haven't died in ZombiU yet. Haven't played it much either.

I've died a bunch of times now- maybe 5 in 10 hours or so?

It's got some 'rules' that I wasn't expecting. In one part of the story, an alarm goes off and the guy tells you to run. I didn't run, but the game just spawned a bunch of zombies everywhere (dropping from rooftops) so basically nowhere was safe and not running=dead.

The game also has 1 hit kills basically. If you get swiped, you lose health, but getting grabbed is an instant death even if you're at full. That caught me by surprise a few times.

After I figured out the game likes to break the rules a bit and just make zombies appear at triggers, my last survivor lasted a long time, but she just died again after something dumb. I was sad at first, but that chick was kinda freaking out all the time so I think I'm fine with it. My new guy is pretty quiet. I think he laughs kind of sadistically when he kills things.

The game has reinforced that I hoard shit to the point of being detrimental. If there was ever a real apocalypse I would be the dead guy lying on a giant pile of guns ammo and food after trying to kill a zombie with a butter knife because I heard it was possible.
