The Apes movie Tim Burton made was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
This trailer is awful. An ape super-leaping and taking out a helicopter? LOL.
like every planet of the apes movie, it needs way more breakdancing dr zaius
I sat through the horrible Burton remake, I'll sit through this one as well. My expectations have been set very low.
It's kind of funny that a single 1 minute skit in an otherwise mediocre episode of The Simpsons is better than everything else ever done with this franchise combined.
I think it's hilarious that anyone watched anything outside of the first movie. Noobs.
I watched them during a marathon on AMC. I really like the first one. This one is kind of like... i Robot meets Deep Blue Sea.
1) This medical treatment wouldn't be something that could effect gametes so the children of these apes wouldn't be as smart as them.
2) Everything else that's wrong with that trailer.
MY HAT IS LIKE A SHARK'S FIN
The first Planet of the Apes flick is great. The late 60's through the 70's produced a lot of great (and bizarre) sci-fi.
The Tim Burton Apes film is like shitting glass.
Looks so stupid. Will probably make a 100 million dollars though.
If the apes aren't guys in rubber suits, this movie can go fuck itself.
So if the apes are guys in rubber suits, they can fuck... you?
The ending is right there in the title...
Rise of Planet of the Apes
That is better than anything that will be in this movie.
I've seen two trailers and know about 98% of the plotline.
you misread the video title it's champ against champ not chimp against chimp
Saw this last night. Very entertaining. Well-paced story, good character development and action. You definitely get attached to Caesar. I also thought they did a good job of tying in Heston's future character and explaining what happens to humans.
I keep hearing great things, and Steph actually wants to see this (She loves the Planet of the Apes, figure that shit out). Maybe I'll get a babysitter and check this tonight.
I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm a cynic when it comes to movies and I left the theater pleased with how they explained the rise of the planet of the apes.
I just can't get in to the theme of this movie. I find it so unbelievably stupid.
I will probably enjoy this on Netflix...
You guys are way negative about primates ripping shit up. I don't get that. If an orangutang flips a bird it might be MOTY.
I was watching the trailer and just couldn't believe that these idiot apes screaming and hopping over cars could take over the world when the humans are fighting them from helicopters and shit. Even one motherfucker with a flame thrower and they're screwed.
Same here.
I just find this whole concept so preposterous and the movie doesn't seem to even have the slightest bit of humility concerning the ridiculous plot. I see something like Planet of the Apes and then see something like Piranha 3D and think they belong in the same category. But Piranha has marvelous tits and a lot of tongue-in-cheek fun in it (THEY TOOK MY PENIS) so I know they're just goofin' around. Yet everyone seems to think Planet of the Apes is deep and meaningful.
It's not for me. I'll laugh at it maybe when it comes to OnDemand.
I like implausable monkey carnage!
Leave your monkey baggage at the monkey door, IMO.
Well, all I can say is, "Watch the movie, then tell me if I'm talking out of my butt."
Like I said before, I'm a cynic when it comes to movies and I left the theater satisfied after having my main question answered (how the hell did they come to take over the planet when they're just apes and we've got all kinds of sophisticated equipment, etc.?). The answer was laid out in a logical/plausible manner (given the circumstances in the movie). They also successfully (imo) tied in the future role of Charlton Heston's character in the original PotA.
I enjoyed the old-school ones as well, even though pretty much every installment after the original got more and more retarded as they went on. But there's something to be said about late 60's/70's era sci-fi...it was really fucking weird, yet kinda cool and imaginative in a way that most modern flicks almost never are anymore.
Yea, I can see enjoying dumb shit like this if they played it like that and showed tits all over the place. When it's trying to be serious business... no thanks. Cowboys & Aliens is the same thing. Why no serious?
I'm not spending $20+ to go see this. I'll wait for on-demand in 3 months if anything. Maybe HBO next year.
The movie wasn't the complete turd that everyone expected it to be. Caesar's plot is entertaining, but the rest is conventional genre sci-fi that you must have seen many, many times before.
How's the monkeymayhem?
More than likely 'apetastic'.
Or perhaps "simianal".
I'LL CUT YOU.
For such a silly little concept it takes itself too seriously. I watch and love all of the Pirates movies so it's not like I'm immune to preposterous movie concepts. I just like swashbucklin' and supernatural stuff. Whatevs. People can enjoy it just sayin' I don't get the serious nerdgasm for this.
Same. A lot of movies this year have been wait and see OnDemand for me.
Maybe you're being a big ol' bitch about talking monkeys?
Like what you want. BUT I WILL MAKE YOU FEEL BAD ABOUT IT IF I DON'T AGREE.
OK SUZY!
Saw it last night and thought it was pretty good.
Yeah, saw it as well. A lot of great moments, if only for the staging. Some of the CG in the beginning looked a little cartoonish, but it was great later on. Maybe the only prequel I've ever liked!
Saw it because a bunch of my friends wanted to. Its pretty good and competently made, but what you see is what you get, kind of like the first Iron Man movie.
My biggest issue with it was that they had a very unique opportunity to do some fantastic and creative violence but they didn't take that route.
I caught this before it was out of theaters and really enjoyed it. I thought it was going to be stupid but some of my friends insisted and I am glad that they did. It was very "Hollywood" and they could've done a better job with the ending, but outside of that it was a pretty solid film. The entire story had a pretty tragic overtone and while some of the science may have seemed far fetched, well, it's only a movie.
