I have the second lying around somewhere. I played it for an hour or 2, hated the controls and haven't picked it up since. That was about a year ago.

Same here. I have heard since that the beginning of the game kind of sucks though, so it's still on my to-do list.
Its weird in that I don't like the games myself but have no problem watching someone else play them. It might be the controls that get on my nerves.
They definitely look like they should be more fun than they are, but in reality you're just holding the "Do neat looking shit" button and pointing him in the right direction. Oversimplification ftl.
I think it works for keeping the series accessible on a general level (it's certainly one of a tiny minority of games that's started life as a planned trilogy and actually made it past the first game), but an advanced controls selection would be pretty cool.
Although it wasn't the second game they originally planned, which would have been set in the present, with the third in the future. They completely scrapped the original trilogy so I don't know if it counts.
I think Mass Effect is going to be the first pre-planned trilogy of full length games to actually see completion.
Goddamnit it Frog, now I'm going to spend all night trying to figure out if you're wrong about that.
For what it's worth Brotherhood's multiplayer is fun and interesting, at least to me.
I'm on an island here, aren't I?
