I bring up Steam because Valve and the publishers have that shit on lock and gamers love it. Just last year Valve changed the EULA and basically said if you don't agree to it you lose all your games and all access and there's nothing you can do. MS never did that and Sony never did that.
Microsoft isn't a trailblazer - they are trying to walk down well-worn paths. So clearly it's not as simple as hardcore gamers complaining here or on NeoGAF or GameFAQs make it out to be.
