I really don't see Banjo falling in the same niche as Ratchet and Daxter. While Ratchet and Daxter were safe for the kids, they weren't exactly geared towards kids only.

The Crackdown games, while flawed, were a lot of fun due to their simplicity and sense of humor/style so they appealed to my base desires for wanton destruction and orb collecting.

That being said, I don't think a Crackdown 3 can really afford to go back to that same exact formula again unless it added a significant amount of scope and depth to every aspect of the game and at the same time not manage to fully betray some of it's staple conventions like it's comic book style, orbs, platforming, and combat. Killer Instinct is never too late IMO, especially with the resurgence of fighters in the last couple of years and it's still a fan favorite. As for the Banjo game, at this point it's not really necessary for whatever current iteration of Rare to develop it so it could be made by any other talented studio since Microsoft owns it.

Also Nuts and Bolts was a Platinum Hits seller so I still think the name brand still has selling power, the games might have skewed younger compared to Jak and Daxter/Rachet and Clank but they're kind of all in the same "all ages" ball park.

Crackdown won't sell systems, Banjo won't sell systems, and I really don't think today's Rare version of KI will sell systems. MS needs some really strong exclusives if they want to move units.

Who says Rare needs to make KI?

I'll play each and every one of these if they're real, but other than BG&E2 I don't REALLY care.

Where are the fucking new games?

Provided that list is real, Prey 2 might as well be a completely new property from what we saw before.

If that list were real AND they backed away from the whole DRMbox strategy, it would be exciting. But as things stand now, I don't care. It's gonna take something truly special to get me to hold my nose and take the anti-consumer bullshit, and nothing on that list does the job.

It's funny that writers/journos had said that sequel fatigue was just a symptom of how old this generation of systems are. That once the new-and-shiny ones came out, everything would be solved! Nothing but new IP and revolutionary gameplay. Yet if this is right, it's just more sequels - which makes perfect business sense. If game development is only gonna get more expensive with shinier systems, who's gonna risk something different when new IP could crush entire studios *this* gen?

Because the best time to launch a new IP is at launch or near launch.

If they show that list of games, holy shit, there's just no way. Every console reveal at e3 is the same.. all this speculation, then at the reveal we get the same few piles of poo.

Deadrising 3 would be pretty cool if they used the system to generate the max number of zombies.
