The beginning of KZ4 was some bullshit
I started unexcited, ended unexcited.
It's not like the demos shown made a convincing argument that, outside of looking better, the box would do anything with games that games haven't already been doing. I know that's enough to get some gamers to part with $600 or so, but I'm not that audience anymore.
I don't want my games to do stupid shit.
So, the used lockout was neither confirmed nor denied, right?
I don't think they're actually going to talk about something like that as any kind of feature that people should be excited about.
then for all intents and purposes, get a PC - if the evolution of consoles was, is, and always will be just prettier games with the same gameplay over and over, get a PC.
You may claim you don't want games to do "stupid shit" inferring that my notion of doing something new is just stupid shit, but the NES was much different from PC games back in the day. The SNES and Genesis were different too. The inclusion of analog could have been seen as stupid shit in its day if you were a traditionalist, hardcore 2D gamer. Games got prettier, but the hardware wasn't only that. Plus games were changing, becoming more broad, complex, and interesting. What I saw today were tech demos of what looks to be a Jak&Daxter clone, an Assassin's Creed in Chicago, and a Dragon's Dogma 2. The same things we play now, just prettier.
If that's all you want and care for, go forth, spend $600+ and be happy until they ask you to do it again. I still think with that set of values though, you'd be better off on a PC. Well heck, I'd say anyone would be better off - at least on the PC, development can be as low-overhead as you want, meaning some of the most interesting & new gameplay ideas have been hitting PC first.
I have a PC. I will get the new systems for the games not on it. Analog wasn't stupid when it was paired with games that didn't suck. If all the games came out on PC, I wouldn't get a console. I don't need my console to do things differently. Because most of the time it's different, it's stupid.
No, what's stupid is tilting to make platforms rotate in my sidescroller when there's no good reason for it or shaking to make my character grab a block when there's no good reason for it.
I need this because ______.
