I got my free OnLive console today. What a great experience. The packaging is extremely professional and "mature." In other words, it's packaged like a smart phone, not like a console, which raises its perceived sophistication. It also includes an ethernet cable, an HDMI cable, and a USB play and charge kit for the controller. The "other guys" could learn a thing or two from this. The fact that it was free with a $20 game is just ridiculous. I wish these guys all the best.
Perhaps I missed it elsewhere, but how did you get it for free?
There was a promo where if you spent $10 in their store you got a coupon for 100% off anything, including the console. So I bought Split/Second for $20, got a 50% off a game coupon from a separate promo, AND got the console for free.
Yeah, I was LOLing at OnLive at first, but it is becoming awesome. If your net connection is good enough, definately use it. They run ridiculous sales all the time, it's great for playing games that you may not want to have as a permanent part of your collection, but you'd pay $20 to play through it a few times.
The only downside for me is that I can only use it on my hardwired PC at home, it doesn't work well with anything wifi that I've tried since the connection speed isn't fast enough, even with a perfect signal.
Yeah I mean, I wasn't going to charge $100 for it but they are still under 20 through eBay. Just get those. The game isn't as great as some claim.
