That was a hell of a beatdown.
Friend of Destro's

Destro with the double basketball KO. At least I got in the double rose taunt at the end of the one round I won:
I'm beginning to think that Capcom has cut their entire testing staff.
Still kinda miffed that I can't seem to unlock anyone but Ryu's alternate colors. Tried messing with dipswitches, defaulting, changing options (LOL) and returning them to normal to no avail.
How bad do you suck at 3S? This matters.
In which way? As far as I know, as long as you beat arcade mode with a character, you unlock their alternate colors. I've beaten the game with Ryu, Ken, Makoto, Hugo and I think with Dudley as well, but the only people I've been given an option for their alt colors is Ryu. Unless I am missing something big here, I don't see what the holdup is for not having the colors.
Oh, then I don't know. I always just pick the original outfit so I never needed alt. colors.
Whatever color is on short is probably the one I will always use. I've seen a lot of people online with the paid palette swap, that is just kind of =[
Unlocking colors is easy. Beat arcade mode on default settings with that character.
Then go to downloadable content ----> my content -----> double impact colors
Sean has a ballin' Dark purple top with light purple pants.
I'm pretty sure he knows the procedure, since he says he'd unlocked Ryu's 2I colors.
I hooked up my 360 at my new place and finally got this. Oh, it was a grind to beat the game with Ryu and Makoto to unlock their 2I colors, but it was worth it. Especially since I earned enough points to forever get rid of that horrible "remixed" rap that plays on the title screen.
I'll probably play weekends mostly, since by the time I'm ready to play during the week, most of you are already asleep.
Anyone want to play a few rounds today? Send text if so.
A few questions:
Is there any way to get rid of that shit on the screen when you are not in widescreen mode? I don't know who thought that display would be anything but awful.
Do any of you know the screen adjustment scale setting for 1080p that sets it back to the default? For that matter, does anybody know the scren adjustment scale setting for 1080p so the art assets between matches don't look like they were chewed by my dog?
Level up all that shit and it'll go away. And shut up anyway, it's awesome.
I like those counters on the side, it's a wonderful reminder that after ~900 rounds I've only air parried once.
Achievement counters are nice, and it's better than stock art just eating up empty space.
But it's not better than empty black.
And speaking of stock art...
Wow, the unlockable art they have in this game is really cool... Yet instead of using all of that great stuff, they go with those new drawings for the menu screens that look like they jumped right off of the US SNES game box. What is up with that? Most of 'em are just regular 'ol bad, but every now and then you get to see the new Gill art. Ha ha ha ha holy shit.
Yeah, why did they even waste money to pay someone to do new art and music when you have all this beautiful work from the original game? Lose the drab grey menu color and paste the original art everywhere. A collection like this of a well respected 10 year old game should be a celebration of the original in all areas - not some halfassed, ugly menu, new age digital painter garbage. Who the hell designed this and how do they have a job in the industry? I hate them whoever it was. Look how the original opening movie showed mainly sketchy/pencil-ey renders of the characters. Shit had style and was super rad.
I aint too too mad tho because I 100% love SF3 and Im happy to play it online and kill people with basketballs.
I started working on modding the d-pad on my Madcatz fightpad to improve its accuracy:
http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php...l-mods.109309/
The right side is already working way better after my first attempt. I went in practice mode and was bangin' out supers and specials one right after the other without dropping a single one. The left side of the d-pad is still a little fucked up, so I will go back and try to figure out what I did on the right side that worked, and why it didn't work on the left side.
Also going to change the art out while I've got it open. Penis landscape fightpad, anyone?
Hahaha, I think I outdid myself on this one. Can't wait to see the look on Kinko dude's face when I ask him to print me off a hi-res vinyl of this:
Pretty much. Same reason Super SF4 has just about the best lobby/spectator system in fighting games yet they cant use it for this game. I love how if someone leaves the lobby in SFIII it sometimes SHOWS you being kicked to the back of the line - but this is just a glitch because if you just wait, you actually are next, despite what the lobby is showing you. hah.
Also sometimes lobbies freeze forever unless the host un-readys and re-readys - losing their spot in the process. Thats some student level programming crap right there.
They really should have sunk a ton of money into this and created the perfect standard interface/feature set that could have Alpha 1/2/3 and any other CPS2/3 game dropped into it at no cost.
But it's Capcom so you can't expect any real thought to be put into their future as far as anything downloadable goes.
That is definitely a valid concern, and one that jumped out at me immediately. Reams and reams of official art spanning three versions of the game and they have the gall to draw up something new that looks like shit and paste it all over the UI. It could have been so much better with less work! Unforgivable.
The Hugo gallery has a picture of Cammy wrapping her leg around Hugo's wrist while her vag flaps around in the breeze. It is amazing. His hand is bigger than her whole body yet it doesn't look wrong.
Yet I still scratch my head over how this had a larger budget than HDSTurbo. Oodles of coke and hookers for all involved confirmed. The leftover went to clipart and an emulator front end.
Kind'a impossible to screw up the greatest fighting game ever made even when you phone it in. It's still the best game I have for PS3.
are you sure it wasn't a regular 3s/2i colour
Black skin, turtle green gi. Exactly like the dlc ryu.
I'm curious. I've heard people complaining about the new music and the need to unlock the original music. On the PS3 I have it the other way around. It comes with the original stuff and you unlock the new music. Did they reverse that on Xbox, or is everybody talking about the title music?
The "original" music you are talking about is the Dreamcast/PS2 arranged music. It's not the arcade music.
You should probably pay attention to the fact that that was for the 360 version.
WHY ARE PEOPLE BUYING THIS
Mike Z wrote an article defending GGPO on consoles. It's kinda cute but I get that he's doing it so his friend makes money. I can say the article is misleading but it isn't, it's the hype behind GGPO that's misleading. It will never make games lag-free. Ever. It may appear that way but lag is in the background. You either get smooth play and janky roll-back OR you get hiccupy gameplay but get the reaction as it's happening.
I never want to play fighters online again.
GGPO can't hide a bad connection. I'll take it all day every day over regular delay.
and I think Mzo is yelling about the palette swap pack.
So then where do you get off talking about it like an expert?
He learned it by watching you.
This is my brain on TNL.
Anyway, I was checking out NG and 2I yesterday for the first time in forever. Is it just me, or do they both have way better presentation than 3S? It seems like NG has almost 2 backgrounds for every fighter, where 3S has two fighters for every background. Not only that, the backgrounds in 3S are just...plain. But I do kinda' like how the 3S backgrounds are unsaturated and low contrast. It really makes the fighters stand out.
Yeah, especially Elena's stage...
itt: deja-vu
A local theater had a 3S machine for years and for the entire time it was there one of the joysticks was broken. Hooray single-player SF!
I beat the game with every character with the system direction on normal didn't unlock gill.
Rage.
I think it's kind of hilarious how everyone went from Y U NO USE GGPO to DONT USE GGPO after a game with GGPO came out.
I think it was FirstBlood that said the first priority of a fighting game on the internets should be matching up people with good connections. That's what makes SSF4 playable online imo.
I wish you asked me this a few weeks ago.
That was meant for the extra color pack. Even though Iron Galaxy dropped the ball in a lot of ways, playing SF3 on the 360 with mass market arcade sticks is still kind of wonderful.
I wish my pos HDTV didn't make parrying nearly impossible.
Do you not have a "game input"?
balls.
Rough.
Mine is effective as shit. :tu:
zero lag rockband up in this bitch.
I seriously doubt it, but that sounds great. What's the TV and model number? I am looking for a better set.
mines good too.
LCD or plasma? I'm sure whatever model it is they've switched factories and components by now and games play like shit on it because buying a new TV is fucking garbage these days.
Best I've seen is around 10~12 ms, which isn't really noticeable. You're probably around that range.
If you listen to what people post on message boards, 90% of them have lagless televisions. They're idiots. I would trust Josh more than the usual poster, though.
I have a Samsung LCD and definitely don't have zero lag. I would say maybe 30ms, if I'm lucky.
It's older, though. Planning to replace it next year.
Mine is from 2008. It's LCD. I'm sure there is some video lag, but not enough that I can notice it in Rock Band, which is what matters to me. Remember... this is coming from "actual musician" I set audio and video lag to 0 in that game, and shit comes out perfect.
LCD. 6 months old. It has a designated Game system hookup in the back. So, everytime I turn on the 360 I switch to that input and voila. Game time.
I don't notice it at all, but I blame that on a few factors. I have crappy DSL and I should be finally getting FiOS on the 19th, so currently my internet connection could be blamed for things. Two, I don't really notice things like that, but I did try and see how long it took for button press to screen reaction took. Then I remembered Ramon's whole wireless controller complain. Now I have a wire controller and its way more responsive.
Game plays fine for me in player matches.
I just don't play ranked.
Bunch of super salty fools have invaded this game. Always happens to online fighters about 1 month in.
I like to play random people when no friends are around.
the new pattern:
Search for lobby for 2 min. Wait in line for 3 min. Win with Sean once. Get kicked.
Search for lobby for 2 min. Wait in line for 3 min. Win with Q once. Get kicked.
Search for lobby for 2 min. Wait in line for 3 min. Win with Twelve once. Get kicked.
Happened like 6 times last night.
Get messaged saying Im a spammer.
Make own lobby. No one joins.
If you cant handle losing even once, why even play online?
All. The. Fucking. Time.
yep. Maybe I should just stop with the randoms.
I do it when I have no other options. But sometimes I'll pick up my stick and go to The Next Level to play some good players.
Youre lucky. No arcades that I know of around here. Local friends are all ass at fighting games.
Definitely. There haven't been any arcades open around here for like 12 years. You remember the on at Century 3 Destro?
I am pretty happy with my computer monitor!
Hell yeah I remember CIII. The day MKII surprised released at the mall - people were going apeshit. Then kids were selling printout move books. They even had Samuraishodown upstairs. Good times. The arcade is still there downstairs but no fighting games.
EDIT: Actually Changeling, there must be something around here. I remember a couple months back playing randoms in SFIV - someone asked if I was in the Pittsburgh SF scene. That stuff is probably all down Oakland. I aint going down there, heh.
I was shocked to find that arcade here at Nashville here in the old rundown part of town. I didn't even know it existed 'til I saw the Mortal Kombat tournament listing on testyourmight.com a while back.
Check around on places like testyourmight and shoryuken. You never know what might be out there at some unknown hole in the wall.
Have you tried breathing underwater yet?
No clue about Gill. All Ive heard is you need to be on normal.

- Fixes a bug that could cause players to have very large disconnection percentages (> 100)
- Fixes a bug that could cause characters to become invisible online, or to be displayed with incorrect colors.
- Fixes a bug that sometimes caused Hugo’s combo trial #2 to not detect correctly
- Fixes a bug that permitted an exploit in Trial mode when using "stun" settings
- Fixes some rare crashes
- Improves network stability
- Adds support for additional DLC packs
- Raises the online level cap
The patch is currently going through the submissions process, and we are targeting a 9/27 release date. Make sure to check back as we will have more news about this update.
Also, we are working on another patch that will address some additional items, as well as add some new functionality to the game (hello dummy recording in training mode!).

Looks like my disconnect rate of 4 trillion% is going to be fixed, damnit.
Maybe your disconnect rate is why you keep getting kicked from player matches.
Nah people just fear the basketballs yo.
^haha yeah. The Pittsburgh scene is me and my Sean + Hakkan trolling. CIII is a dump, dont bother making the trip.
Here's another hatemail, this time from last night's kick Destro fest. Simple yet brilliant.
Did you?
I would have if it was Ringo.
This is fucking huge. I'm going to learn how to parry out of unblockables now.Quote:
