Holy shit, they ran into V'Ger in deep space!
Fuck it, I'm in! I'd play this Day One even if Sega was making it.
Good riddance to Bungie, Reach sucked. Maybe someone at 343 understands weapon balance. Looking forward to 4. Theres some story hints on that, surprisingly good, Halo legends anime short story DVD.
I give exactly zero shits about this game.
I care more about this thread than this game.
Cry more.
Master Chef has a voice now?
He has for ages, hasn't he? At least since 2?
Has he? Weird.
I've never owned a Halo game and I don't like any of them, and probably give even les of a fuck than you. No one is crying about you not liking this game, it's your hilariously bad attempt at appearing casual while trolling that makes you such a giant tool.
You actually went out of your way to click on a clearly labeled thread that didn't interest you just to say that.
It's like you got dressed up and went out to a club just so you could stand there and talk about how gay it is there.
lol, really Frog?
So stay out of his gay club!
You have this thing you do where you try to act like you were just minding your business and people started talking about something you don't give a shit about around you, thus giving you the perfect opportunity to remind the dudebros how much cooler you are than them. I don't know how you think that works on a forum, but it honest to god makes my skin crawl how desperate for attention it seems.
It's not a bunch of people shooting the shit at a bar, it's an internet forum. The shtick doesn't translate here. Again, I don't like Halo in the slightest and I actually AGREE with you, and your gimmick is still just embarrassing to me.
Icarusfall tends to do this a lot too, but he's eased up a bit.
You've spent about four paragraphs complaining about a one sentence post.
I've been saving them up. Your personality really is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Anyway, go back to talking about Halo 4, I just had to get that out.
Ugh forum rivalries.
Yeah, yeah, my bad. I should have him on ignore. I've never used it before, but I guess this is what it's for.
No gameplay = not caring. I bought Reach because Jonas claimed it was awesome. I rocket whored my way to the top of a few games and played campaign 1/2 way through before trading it in towards MvC3. I welcome a new dev on this because Bungie is not good. And because they have to live up to expectations maybe we'll actually get a good Halo. That will be something new for the franchise!
With games like BF3 coming out it's time for a sci-fi shooter to catch up. Halo 4 is probably not that game.
So back on topic, they have a pretty decent team working on this;

Kynan Pearson - Lots of level design on Metroid Prime 2+3 and Donkey Kong Country
Tom French - Lead Designer on Saboteur, has been designing shit with me since the Fallout 2 days
Chris Haluke - Lead Level Designer on Killzone 3 + lots of other games
Kenneth Scott - Art Director at iD for a decade

Joe Waters - Senior Gameplay Engineer who has worked on a bazillion shooters including Reach, Shadowrun, Condemned, Counter Strike (xbox), etc.
Lots of Fasa, Pandemic and iD vets
Not a bad crew. Where are they based out of? Redmond?
I think the number 4 is what's scaring me away from this. Halo always felt generic to me, I'd like it more if they took it some place new.
Yeah, Redmond.
itt: niggas read too deep into things.
Day one for me (SHOCKING, I KNOW!). I still play Reach and have a lot of fun with it. If it weren't for the absolutely retarded excuse for a "ranking" system I would play it even more. Opaque and I played some games of Halo 3 last week too, I really hope they move 4 back in that direction. There's no running, but the overall pace of the game is much faster, and the lack of fall damage and health makes it a much more fluid game.
I agree Brand, 3 still holds up. I love CTF in that game. I hope they make the gameplay/gunplay more balanced than BR only or die tho.
Maybe now they can actually do something different with this series. It desperately needs change.
Completely agree. It's actually surprising, because Reach could very well be the most balanced of the Halo games from a weapon stand point, but it still doesn't play nearly as well as 3, and Halo 2 still by far has the best selection of maps. I'm looking forward to seeing how 343 puts their own spin on the style of gameplay. It does need the overhaul that Reach tried to provide, but didn't do very well, but at the same time I don't want it to deviate too much since I really fucking love the gameplay "sandbox" and pacing of 2 and 3.
Halo 2 is still my favorite for the multiplayer side. Just like Brand said the map selection( and imo choking points) are stellar. Reach is meh.
I doubt they have much of a leash. The Halo name probably guarantees sales and comes with a bullet point list of what features to hit.
I wish it will be good too but I don't expect much to tell you the truth. I don't know why. I think that the last Halo's have disappointed me too much. I am a little but pessimistic about his one but I will certainly try to keep an open mind.
I had zero faith in this heading in because of 343, but seeing a brief glimpse of the game in action has me a bit more positive and substantially more interested. Still remains to be seen how the game will turn out.
Final Fantasy Halo IV
Looks like Halo with a fresh set of paint and I like it. Apparently they are integrating CoD style progression unlocks and (fully) custom load outs in multiplayer, not so sure how I feel about that, but day 1 regardless.
I think they should just go real gimmicky on this one and add in bullet-time and whatnot. He's a Spartan. He's supposed to be super strong and super fast. New trilogy, new gameplay. I felt more like a Spartan playing TimeShift.
Ha. I finished that game twice, the last time on the hardest difficulty. It's not a great game, but the time manipulation mechanics made it more fun than it should have been.
I'm a huge Halo fan and am still going to pick up Halo 4 on launch day. I just want some more dramatic changes to the gameplay, considering this will be the sixth game and the start of a new trilogy.
I totally agree. As long as they keep the core shooting and control mechanics (which based on the gameplay videos, it seems like they have), I fully support making significant changes to the overall gameplay. Though I have a feeling Microsoft is going to go the safe route, make changes along the lines of Reach but not a complete overhaul. I just ask for no more armor abilities (even though with time I have found them to be quite balanced).
Looks tired, needs some major gameplay mechanic changes to even stay relevant in the current marketplace. Hoping they at least lose all of the bad BUNGiE stage designs for campaign.
November 6th release date announced.
Bad enough that the multiplayer has dropped Firefight and is incorporating a COD-style MP progression, now they're releasing the game within spitting distance of COD: Black Ops 2.
Microsoft had it right releasing Gears 3 in September last year. Halo 3, ODST, and Reach all were released in September as well.
I never understand why these game companies stuff mid-October through November with their games.

SEXY CORTANA!
Something good comes out of this game after all!
So they say she's going rampant? Can this finally please fucking happen?
MC and Cortana will finally consummate in Halo 4 so we will have Halo 5.
Master Cortana, imo.
He said rampant.
omg
TOO SOON! YOU HAVE AWAKENED ME TOO SOON, ARBITER!
Arbiter? Executus?
Reclaimer!
Okay, I'm in.
Every Halo MP I've played stunk. I doubt this will change my mind.
Looks damn good to me. Not that this wasn't day 1 already, but it's midnight Legendary campaign co-op run day 1 now.
Halo 4 Life
Halo Prime 4
For a sec, I thought Halo was going to go all Breakdown with the left and right triggers being punches.
Forerunners are from Zebes.
Foreskinners imo.
I'm happy this doesn't look bad. I was kinda worried.
This looks good. I'm pretty excited, even though I was going to get this day one regardless.
Why are the Covenant still around, though?
It sure looks like an FPS.
I wonder if Cortana and MC talk as much as Pit and Lady Palutena, or if they were hamming it up in that demo.
This looks more appealing than Halo usually does. I feel like they gave it a bit more crunch. Kind of intangible, but it's something I always felt Halo was missing.
I'm getting pretty excited for this. I like the new trailer and those Forward Unto Dawn webisodes have been decent. I went back and finished the last level of 3 again just to get a feel for it again. This is now my most anticipated fall game.
I should listen to some audiobooks or something, right?
The more I see, the better this game looks. That new co-op chapter/story thing a week is brilliant.
Played some Halo 3 multi today. Whipped some ass surprisingly. Everyone good must be on Reach. Can't wait to wake up Chief!
Yeah, this looks great.

I've been looking all over to pre-order the LE but only the standard editions are available.
Gah, this sucks.
Just pick one up at Best Buy day of.
Edit: Because lets be honest, what was the last Halo LE that was really limited.
I know, I looked.
I'll bet they finally realized these things don't sell when they're not actually limited.
Yeah, if the map walkthroughs from IGN & the viddocs that 343 released are any indication the multiplayer is going to be really kick ass. It doesn't seem like it's going to be a handful of half baked ideas that don't feel like they fit the average map design and lack of competitive matchmaking like we had in Reach. I enjoyed Reach, but it was missing that hook that I got with Halo 1/2/3. It's definitely worth reading this editorial about user testing and the amount of effort put into play testing Halo 4. It's actually kind of insane.
http://www.polygon.com/2012/10/24/35...-playtest-labs
And if anyone wants to play some 3/Reach I'm down anytime.
that too
Totally how I felt too. It seemed like their entire development process was built around multipurposing all of their environments (or a significant amount of them) for campaign/firefight/multiplayer for the sole purpose or reducing level of effort needed for map designs. It was also clearly obvious that the armor abilities/loadouts weren't fully thought out, or more likely they didn't have enough time to give them the feature scope that was initially intended when they came up with the idea. Invasion was also a piece of shit no fun game mode that they invested a ton of effort in that just didn't work well in the context of how I like to play Halo.
There were a small handful of maps i really do enjoy, but overall the multiplayer was lacking in so many ways. I enjoyed the game immensely because I really like the standard Halo mechanics, but everything added to the game I could have taken or left.
Well, time will tell on this one.
The demand seems to be outweighing the supply so far so they may just leave it at that considering how many LE's and Legendary editions of Reach were still in retailer inventories. Personally I would love to be able to see LE's on the shelf for that long for me to still be able to get them but it seems like Reach was one of those times where they overproduced.
Reach sucked.
I'm still not over how much Halo 2 sucked as a single player game to try another one out.
Maybe when this hits $20, since it was made by a different team and all.
What I want to know is what kind of voodoo magic did the H4 dev team use to make thi game. For a 360 game, it looks bananas.
I saw on either Joystiq or Kotaku that H4 is the most expensive game they've made to date.
Yeah but at the end of the day you still have to make something with the money
It's weird, Halo games are simultaneously very impressive and very unimpressive to me.
Mostly because they couldn't tell a story to save their fucking lives. Hire some real writers.
The netcode rules though.
Halo 3 was great fun, but I don't know, the world and story are so dumb and uninteresting. I think one reason why I didn't like Reach was that it clearly bought its own bullshit. I read comments on Kotaku or whatever about how the ending made them cry, it was ridiculous. But I guess Halo counts as a good story if you've never read a good book or seen a good movie.
Halo has a fantastic mythology behind it that drove the stories that Bungie told, but they really had problems telling a gripping / above average story line from beginning to end during any of their games. Halo 1 included (and after playing Halo Anniversary edition I seriously question how someone things the campaign is better than Halo 3's or ODST barring nostalgia). The best story was told in ODST, and easily the best SP experience that Halo has offered, but the multiplayer for Halo 2 by far has made it my personal favorite in the series. It was just really damn fucking good.
Halo 3: Humanity's population reduced to that of the United States. No discussion of this or humanity's possible extinction. It's a note in the art book. I know this shouldn't matter, but I couldn't help thinking about this while playing the game. I expected soldiers to mourn family or loved ones, ruminate about the future of the species. Instead they chant "hoo-rah!" and "let's kick some ass."
I that sensed of desperation in Mass Effect 3, like the fate of the universe hangs on every decision made. Not so in Halo 3.
That I started to look for these sorts of things in video games made me reevaluate why I even play games now. I had a very vivid imagination as a child. The most mundane, ham-fisted stories seemed almost like epic, sweeping tales. I had dreams about the final mission of Command and Conquer (lol!) and was totally freaked out when that guy at the end of Strider for NES said issued the threat "We'll dance on your grave," and literally danced/jumped on my lifeless body. I'm older now. I read books, watch movies and TVs. I can appreciate trash and serious literature. When an entire medium appears unable to understand the difference you start to wonder whether you should bother with it anymore.
The thing I fear would always happen to me with music has happened with video games. I'm just too old for this.
Edit: Woof. I apologize for how poorly written this is.
