This was the second and final interesting and newly announced game on day one of E3.
Horrendous dialog aside, I'm very much interested in this. I didn't really get into the second, but the engine is so good and I love open world first-person shooters, so this is staying on the radar.
I was going to try to argue that two interesting new announcements thing, but honestly I can't right now. Everything else I liked has been hinted at previously.
Of course the show hasn't started yet, so whatever.
I am willing to give them another chance. Far Cry 2 should have been so good but they just didn't bother to make a game there.
Someone explain to me what was so good about the first game. I feel like I somehow played it incorrectly.
Far Cry is like Lost. You're stuck on a tropical island and it's boring, with bad dialogue and there are really uninteresting supernatural beings.
I like the 2nd game, it was beautiful and I hope to finish it someday. But I got OCD about collecting the diamonds and forgot about the main missions.
I thought the first far cry was alright, never played the second one though.
I liked it. It was a solid B+ rate single player game. It had vehicles, decent weapons, and introduced new game play elements throughout the game. There really wasn't anything that was SO good. Just a long game with decent elements that was playable enough.
Also, keep it in context. There weren't a lot of other new (FPS) games available when it came out. Call of Duty 2 and not much else.
I also liked Far Cry 2, flaws and all. Really looking forward to see what they came up with for 3. Hope they improved the AI.
CoD2 was like a year and a half after Far Cry. Even Half Life 2 was the better part of a year away when Far Cry came out.
