I've been using the elf and a lot of the R1 button.
I have to pay some attention but as long as I'm dodging and being a little safe I'm fine. A death here and there, every other boss or so maybe, but with all the food and potions and stuff I don't come close to needing to continue.
Even solo the elf is silly easy. Regardless of who you have the A routes are all simple. Once you unlock the B routes the A routes scale up to level 17 or 18 and the B routes are a little above that. Pretty sure the game won't be hard until inferno.
Is there a level max?
I like how you can make your own messages for various things on this game. I couldn't resist gauntlet quotes. At the moment I'm playing with the knight and amazon. I've made other characters, but not played with them yet.

I know this is heresy for old fart gamers but outside of Double Dragon NES and some Streets of Rage games on Genny I never really got into this genre.
Level max is 99. There's also a way to respec but I haven't encountered it yet and I think it's expensive or something.

Played this yesterday. Ended up watching my friend play for 8 or 9 levels because the two player is not intuitive. Manual says just press start. Which gives you a waiting tab. I think you have to use the right analog stick. It also did a pretty shitty job of explaining runes.
Other than that, pretty fun. You can use your oldest characters to power level your new ones pretty easy. I got to level 14 with my character before going to bed.

This game has a lot of nice nods to older beat'm ups. Like how the bandits are hunched over like the little gnome thieves from Golden Ax, and how you can beat them up to get treasure.
Yeah. Blue thieves just exist to get the piss beat out of 'em and drop stuff. There's even blue thief rooms. Lizardmen share the jump stab and overhead swing with their DnD counterparts. Dark Pirates teleport to falling attack and magic use are reminiscent of the dark elf from Tower of Doom.
Any other Fighters here? Protip: the bash skill increases the damage of your dash bashes and air dash bashes. As do any unarmed modifiers found on equipment or the rune magic The True Fist.
The magic carpet reminds me a lot of the magic carpet stage from the Gen Aladdin.

I haven't even been trying to get more than the four orbs I have, I've just been doing quests and screwing around with other characters. My elf is up to 29 and I should probably start trying for more orbs but my desire to have an empty quest list is a strong one.
I think I have 4 or 5 right now.
I snagged all the rest real quick and am fighting the last guy, but he's killed me twice so far (the first was because I didn't know the mechanics). I hit him pretty close, I can probably take him down even though I'm only 34.
Ducktales has my attention tonight but I'll be back.
I had that bitch at like 5% and then he flew off and healed himself back up to like 20%. Asshole.
Then next attempt I got to him to 5% again and he cast three screen filling special attacks at once that guaranteed a party wipe with no way out. Double asshole.
I just figured out how to kill him without even trying and now I feel silly that I died at all. Elf is so OP.

As a warning: People are making hacked characters that have maxed out attributes and impossible talents and gear, so if you pick up some level 99 bones be wary. If you get an item from them by burying (you could resurrect and dismiss them but it'll cost 3-10 million to do so, real 99 players should only cost a few thousand) it can corrupt your save file. If you do get a hacked character the best thing to do is save your game, bury those bones individually, and if you get an item just shut down the game and reload it to try again.

I've finally got some days off again, so I can put in more time on this. I've just been doing a quest or two before or after work. I can only imagine the tapping frenzy vita players have on this, especially on the glowing hidden objects that keep spitting out loot with each tap.

I finally unlocked online and all of the B routes. This game really is fantastic. Honestly, this is where JRPGs should go as a genre; pick a classic play style and introduce some story and loot to it. My one complainy is that I have to go to the Guild to review quest objectives.
I absolutely made the right decision getting the Vita version, as I'll grab it and play a level on the toilet, before bed, etc. when I definitely would not fire up the PS3. Heck, I made a little progress at 2X,000 feet last week, and a guy sitting across from me at the gate at Reagan was playing a Vita too!

got to the ancient dragon tonight. Keep getting him down but still end up dying before I can get that last 1/10th down. I have a max sorceress and a 30 amazon. Probably going to try to get some more levels on the amazon before trying it again.

Elf is OP. I didn't even know when I made it but I was glad when I found out.
The ancient is supposed to be done at 35 (max level on normal) with some good gear, though it can be powered through by stacking hard-hitting abilities with a strength potion. The last part can be the toughest because of all the skeletons and that's when he'll start healing himself and layering screen-clearing attacks, but even just making sure the crossbow skeletons are down can help a lot.
When you hit Start mid-level it pops up an option to review active quests. Getting, exchanging, and cashing in quests is done at the guild, but you can review active quest objectives any time you'd like.Quote:
